Le Soleil

To say that you can love one person all your life is just like saying that one candle will continue burning for as long as you live.

-Tolstoy, Kreutzer Sonata

Light seeping through lidded and motionless eyes, an irritating blindness and pain as you wake up. That was how mornings went, as far as you were concerned.

You despised the sun.

And wasn't it torture to have to wake up in the morning when you didn't want to? A soul so drained, a body too weak to try to live- just like dried leaves on the asphalt, you break.

And wasn't it envy that filled you when you watchedNaruto being himself? It killed you, the same way the knowledge of his lack of selfishnessalways did. It ate at your insides, choking you to the point that you were drained, but you forced it all back and smiled up at him when he kissed you and made you feel like you mattered.

But it was in the morning, when he pulled on his clothes and left you alone, did you stare at the wall and feel lonely and resentful, naked underneath the sheets and cold inside and outside. You never saw the way the sunlight fractured from the window, or the look in his blue eyes when he turned back and watched you silently, imploringly, lovingly.

You just saw your blonde hair spilled out on the sheets and your porcelain skin. You idly wondered, during the first few times, whether his skin was really like that, or if he had just darkened from being exposed to the sun far too long.

He shone and stood up to all of hisfears, like the rising sun, and ran to your arms at nightlike the setting sun.

He was the sun, and you were the moon.

It's been far too long since I've written a NaruIno. (sigh) I hope you enjoyed this, because I sure as hell did. Hehe.
