A short story on Kikyou's feelings.
Let What Come May
She stopped by the Sacred Tree today. It stood towering before her, like so many times before. The tree is time itself, with the past etched deep into its ancient, coarse skin. She traced a hand down its trunk, feeling for her own scar in this collection of memories. A miko's pain. She sat down and leaned against the tree.
"INUYASHA!" She released the arrow.
That scene echoed in her head over and over again. She winced.
In a distance, she could hear their laughter, his gang, and that reincarnation of hers. Perhaps destiny truly does repeat itself, to think that her soul would return to the same place, meet the same person, so many years after. She was a mistake. Her soul had already moved on, yet she is still here. Why! Why do I exist? Who am I?
I'm Kikyou, yet… not Kikyou.
She laughed at herself. She was just a wandering soul, a piece of Kikyou's memories, a piece of her hatred for the man that betrayed her. A priest once told her to return to the dead. She killed him.
And there was Inuyasha. Inuyasha, who had sworn a lifetime ago to protect her, who had been the reason of her death, who claimed that he still loves her a lifetime later, yet fell in love with her reincarnation and left her in the darkness…
Happy endings are stories that haven't ended.
He gave her freedom, he gave her hope, and the closest thing to happiness. She thanks him for that. But being a priestess marked her fate. There is no escape. She was returned to this world, not for him, but to fulfill her unfinished duty as a priestess.
Inuyasha.
The name escaped her lips involuntarily. A tear ran down her cheek. Whatever comes, passes. She stood up, dusted her attires, picked up her bow and arrows and walked off, her lone shadow elongated in the waning light.
Let what come may, and she will confront them all the same; whether if it's demons, Naraku, death ...or Inuyasha.

I was bored, thought I would write something short. A review would be nice :)
