This idea sprang to mind as I was listening to Phil Collins. I own no characters or the song.
Violet Baudelaire sits on the side of the street. Her clothes are in rags, there are cuts and bruises on her face, and her hair is a tatted mess. Mr Poe walks by in a suit and bowler hat. He glances at Violet, recognizes her, and hurries on, pretending not to notice her. Violet calls out to him.
She calls out to the man on the street;
"Sir, can you help me?
It's cold and I've no where to sleep,
Is there somewhere you can tell me?"
Mr Poe ignores her pleas and walks on, coughing slightly as he crosses the street.
He walks on, doesn't look back
He can see that she's been there.
Starts to whistle as he crosses the street
Seems embarrassed to be there
Oh, think twice
'Cause it's another day for you and me in paradise
Oh, think twice
'Cause it's another day for you,
You and me in paradise
Violet calls out again and tries to crawl after him, much like her sister, Sunny. Mr Poe hurries on, still ignoring her.
She calls out to the man on the street
He can see she's been crying
She's got blisters on the soles of her feet
She can't walk but she's trying
Oh, think twice
'Cause it's another day for you and me in paradise
Oh, think twice
'Cause it's another day for you,
You and me in paradise
Violet buries her face in her grimy hands and starts to cry. Sobbing away, she lifts up her head, revealing a weary, mournful face. Tears roll down her cheek as she looks after the figure of Mr Poe disappearing over the horizon.
Oh no
Is there nothing anyone can do?
Oh no
There must be something you can say
You can see from the lines on her face
You can tell that she's been there
Probably been moved on from every place
'Cause she didn't fit in there
Oh, think twice
'Cause it's another day for you and me in paradise
Oh, think twice
'Cause it's another day for you,
You and me in paradise
She feels a hand on her shoulder, and turns to see Count Olaf standing behind her, dressed in his ridiculously tall had and a pinstriped suit. Klaus is standing next to him in similar attire, his face clean, his hair neatly combed and his clothes pressed. He has a regretful look on his face. Olaf smiles maliciously and nods at Violet. She tries to resist, but he digs his fingers into her shoulder and drags her away. She looks at Klaus, pleadingly. He whispers "I'm sorry." Olaf drags her away, and Klaus follows by his side.
It's just another day for you and me in paradise
It's just another day for you and me in paradise
