How do you get that lonely?
By Melody Rasnake
Quatre set reading the sports page when he first saw the news of Taylor Hamilton's death. It was right under the Tiger's football score. The paper said he was just 18, Heero had seen him in school but never really got to know him. The paper said that services will be on Friday at the Lawrence Funeral Home. And that his body would be layed to rest out on on Mooresville highway.
It
was just another story written on the second page
Underneath the
Tiger's football score
It said he was only eighteen, a boy about
my age
They found him face down on the bedroom floor
There'll
be services on Friday at the Lawrence Funeral Home
Then out on
Mooresville highway, they'll lay him 'neath a stone...
How
do you get that lonely, how do you hurt that bad
To make you make
the call, that havin' no life at all
Is better than the life that
you had
How do you feel so empty, you want to let it all go
How
do you get that lonely... and nobody know
Quatre sat in school looking around him. Even after being in the war he still didn't understand how someone could get so lonely or hurt so bad that they would take their own life or how someone could think that having no life at all would be better than not living. Life to him was something that you could change to make it what you want.
Later as he walked down the halls, he try to hear the people around him talking and how they felt about the young man that had taking him self from the world. But all he heard where questions.
Did
his girlfriend break up with him, did he buy or steal that gun?
Did
he lose a fight with drugs or alcohol?
Did his Mom and Daddy
forget to say I love you son?
Did no one see the writing on the
wall?
I'm
not blamin' anybody, we all do the best we can
I know hindsight's
20/20, but I still don't understand...
How
do you get that lonely, how do you hurt that bad
To make you make
the call, that havin' no life at all
Is better than the life that
you had
How do you feel so empty, you want to let it all go
How
do you get that lonely... and nobody know
Quatre clipped the story out of the paper to save it. He wanted to ask people but he wasn't sure how they would take his out look on it so he didn't talk about it. And it became just another story in the box that he put it in.
It
was just another story printed on the second page
Underneath the
Tiger's football score...
