Disclaimer: I own my words, not George's world.

A/n: A poem spawned from listening to the Revenge of the Sith soundtrack. Companion to For Her and My Brother. Can easily be read alone. Enjoy. Dedicated to Moony, who really wanted a poem for Padme after I made one for Obi-Wan and Anakin.

This isn't the way it's supposed to be

I'm supposed to feel a thrill of love when I see his eyes flicker

Not a thrill of fear.

My love, my love.

Something is very wrong

Smoke rises from the Jedi Temple

Where are you, Anakin?

Finally he returns, unharmed

He says the Jedi have tried to overthrow the Republic

I quell my uneasiness and I believe him.

My love, my love.

Obi-Wan arrives and reveals terrible things

Tormented, I clutch the japor snippet pendant around my neck

And rush to Mustafar seeking the truth.

There I greet him

The more he talks the more I can plainly see

Obi-Wan was right.

Anakin is covered by darkness.

Vader stands before me now.

My love, my love is gone.
