Kagome had been so peaceful, and trying to get over the fact of Inuyasha had placed her second than first, when he made it seem to her she was the only one alive and loved in his eyes. She felt fooled by every promise, and lingered on every word he spoke to her. She was sure this would be the last time, after all the things they have been through.
Kagome was restless in sleep. She was shivering, and her blanket proved no warmth. The whole group were sleeping away carelessly, and Kagome's mind was active with the thoughts of where she stood between the dead girl, and the guy she was hurting for.
" Kagome, here, Inuyasha mentioned sweetly, his voice always changed softly when nobody was in sight or in hearing. " It will keep you warm."
Kagome lifted her head from the lush grass, watching him tuck the corners carefully underneath her side. His yellow eyes seemed to light up in the darkest of nights and it was times like this she felt fooled.
" I think this would suit you better than just my beaten down Kimono."
Inuyasha carefully laid down by her side and softly moved her hands letting his arms embrace her close to his chest and heart. She could hear the sound of his heart heavily pounding against his chest. She could feel her head rise with every breath he took. Kagome stood astonished, and her eyes were the only thing capable of moving. She felt his warm breath against her neck, and could see Inuyasha from the corner of her eye with a sweet smile.
" I thought you didn't sleep at all?"
Kagome questioned feeling his hands slowly outlining hers, and she felt so small compared to him. He shook his head teasingly placed one finger underneath her chin drawing her closer towards him.
" I never do usually. I want to make sure everyone safe. But being awake at night has more wonders than you would imagine. That's when everyone is vulnerable. Besides I need to sleep sometime."
Before Kagome could say any word she laid in awe as the example of beauty flourished their way when she saw the arrays of fireflies dancing through the blades of grass. He smiled at the simple creatures, seeing the softer side of Inuyasha than ever before.
Kagome agreed with being vulnerable. She understood exactly what that meant. She embraced the moment, even though her head was telling her it was a foolish idea. She lightly grazed his face without realizing her actions, gently patting his winter white hair down to one side. Inuyasha brought forth a beautiful but powering kiss ever imagined. Kagome stood there frozen in time, as though they were only ones in the world.
" Kagome, I…….He signed, " I'll see you in the morning."

Kagome didn't question it at all. She turned her neck enough to see his face gently resting inwards towards her shoulder. For once she was watching Inuyasha sleep, and could see the smile he left gently fading away. She didn't know what to think of him. Every time she wanted to let go, to fade away in the distance, he wouldn't let her. He made an effort to make her happy, in anyway he could. When everyone else was dead in sleep, it was then he spoke words to Kagome that she never thought she would hear in her life.
Kagome grazed his face once more, watching how innocence he appeared. Every time they came close, there was always a sentence he could never finish. Kagome knew he couldn't say it, for the fact Kikyo was still drifting in and out of his heart. Kagome could hear him breathing softly, and wondered what he truly dreamt of?
" Inuyasha, you'll never finish that sentence will you?" She whispering knowing for sure he wasn't able to hear it. His arms still remained around her waist. It seemed like the closer they came, the further back they went. He was now able to express his care in his tone of voice, and with his touch, but still the I love you was all she ever asked for...
