In the end, there was no Senna. She was dead and you were free. There was no high school, just Everworld. There was no Ka Anor. There was no war. Christopher was still there. And it should have been easy. So why was it so hard?
Maybe because for all intents and purposes, you were still in love with Senna and Christopher was in love with Etain. Maybe because you were the General of Athena's armies and Christopher was the Vikings' favorite frat boy. Maybe it was because all you had was death, and he was so desperately alive.
Everworld is the land of legends. Of myths which aren't myths after all, but tales too true and too sad to really think about. Like Hades and Persephone. Too close to what you felt for Christopher. Oh, you could have him, you were sure. You didn't need to carry him off in a chariot and hide him away, but it was still too close to coercion. It was still too off. Too wrong. No matter how much Persephone had come to love Hades in the end, the ending didn't change the beginning.
You and Christopher? You'd just been fucked from the start.
Don't think about endings to beginnings you never really had.
