It's Okay to Cry

By, The Angels of Death

Summary: One-shot. Nejiten. Neji finds Tenten alone in her room, and it's time to let her know that it's okay to cry.

Pairing: Nejiten. Could I ever write any other pairing BUT that? Never. xD

"You look pitiful."

"No need to point out the obvious."

"What happened to you?"

"It's none of your damn business, so go away."

"To hell with you. I'll go away when I damn feel like going away."

"..."

"…………."

The rain continued to pour; the dull pitter-patter sound of the raindrops pelting against the window, providing at least some form of noise. They were in silence.

Neji looked down at Tenten, arms crossed, eyes narrowed. He had come to pick her up for some training sessions, but saw that she was cooped up in her room, looking like a mess.

"Are you going to share with me what happened?"

"No."

"Sharing is caring."

"Neji, that is the lamest thing I've heard, by far."

"But it caught your attention."

"..."

"No denying it."

"Shut up."

"So what's the matter?"

And another painstaking silence.

"Neji, who am I?"

"Now what kind of question is that?"

"Don't answer my question with a question."

"……………"

"…I'm just stressed out right now. I mean, I feel that I have no purpose in life. I mean, who am I? Sakura's becoming a medic nin, and I don't know what I'm going to be. What is my purpose?"

Neji looked down at Tenten blankly, watching as she rambled off and let her emotions go. And then he remembered a time when he was 7 and he first met Tenten.

Flashback

Neji walked around the new academy, bored to death. Was there nothing to do? The whole playground was just too mediocre. So he went towards the secluded area full of thinly shapes trees. He heard someone softly crying, and felt compelled to find out who it was.

He reached a small, clear area, clearly for training. On a tree stump, sat a small girl he assumed was his age, with two tiny buns poking out. She had her back turned to him, but he knew that she felt his presence.

"W-who are you…?"

"Hi…my name's Neji. I heard someone crying…and…"

She turned around to face him, and he blinked, looking at her small face streaked with tears. She tried to rub away her tears, embarrassed, but Neji went up and caught her wrist before she could.

"It's okay to cry."

Then he handed her his handkerchief and, since they were only 7, he patted her awkwardly on the head. She blinked, before giggling. Then he started to laugh too. And ever since then, they'd been having a strong bond for life.

End Flashback

Neji saw Tenten's brow crease, as she tried her best not to cry. She turned away from him.

"Crying is for the weak…no?

Neji sat next to Tenten and wrapped his arm around her shoulders.

"You know…it's okay to cry."

"……………"

"And…if you wanted to know…you're a weapons specialist. And…you're Tenten. The most special person I could ever know."

Tenten smiled and they both sat together, in a newly found comfortable silence. Listening to the quiet pitter-patter of the rain drops pelting against the window softly.

The End

It's been awhile, huh? Well, I've been pretty damn busy and everything. And when I wasn't busy, I was procrastinating. xD. Review! I'm in desperate need of accomplishment right now. XD
