Ode to my Brother
I always wanted to be like you, big brother
Since you always never seemed to care what others said about you
And always listened to the lessons given by our mother
Yet, you still had a troublemaker inside of you:
Like waking up at the middle of the night
And skillfully finding you way up the hills
To watch the sunrise and gaze at the seagulls take flight
But you never ceased to fill
The longing of adventure in your heart and head
As you dived into the waters with a smirk on your face,
Head first into the clear, blue, ocean water- like said.
Well, I guess that was the case
As I watched you sail away on that ship
But I know from my heart that you'll return to us
Since you gave me one good tip,
And that's never to fuss
'Cause it's not going to take you anywhere,
But your room.
So take it from my brother and I and I don't care
About the bad things in life, so just make the best of it.
Life on the Sea
Living on the ocean is such a grand adventure.
Sailing the waves with much carefree.
Going from island to island searching for treasure
And learning a few tricks on the sea.
Feeling the sea's winds through my hair
And feeling free without care
Entering caves and any lair
Off islands with so much share.
My life on the sea is not limited
For the sea is too vast and mysterious
And there is so much that we are riveted
Yet through loss and suffering, we are still curious.
Seven in the Crew
The sun begins to rise and shine bright
Over the vast seas with such blinding light
Gleaming over with beauty, mystery and pride
As one ship anchors on the high tide.
The distant island will come to strive
As seven sailors step on the shore
Breathing the fresh air and looking alive
With faces bright and hardly without sore.
They watch the city in amazement
Their faces lit at the entertainment
Enjoying the festival and paying no heed
To gossiping canter of no need.
Weeks pass and suspicion fades away
As seven sailors make friends 'til May,
But time comes when they must not delay
To heading home without going astray.
The captain yells hastily to his crew
So they set the sails to fit and lead
Them across the ocean ready and now anew
Leaving the island and finishing the deed.
Coming Home
The girl waved and called to the ship from the shore
Across the water and over wave's roars
And shouted, "Hoy!" to her big brother on board
As seagulls flew overhead and soared.
The little girl could not stand still
As the ship anchored near a hill
And her big brother appeared,
So the islanders waved and cheered.
The boy had finally reached his home
For he was tired of having to roam
Over the vast seas for more than just one mere mile,
Yet- you guessed it- he hid his jet lag and faked a smile.
Whew! Finally! Here they are-the rest of my horribly crappy poems that have come to haunt you. I got bored and I thought- what the heck- the computer's on...riiiight... Enjoy! And don't forget to review!
