Chapter 2 Jack be dammed
Fox didn't say anything. She liked the man's eyes. They were dark pools of brown. They drew her in and told her stories, much like her own. His hair was as black as black could possibly be, but it was put up in braids of all sorts with beads and charms and what not. She liked it, very interesting.
"Well, what's your name?" he asked her again. Fox looked to her brother. He shrugged. She looked back to him. The man raised his eyebrows in answer. She didn't reply.
"She's a shy one Jack; I don't think I've heard her say but one word." Will warned. Jack's lips flickered into a faint smiled and he leaned across the table and into her ear.
"I know you can speak," he whispered. Then he leaned back in his chair the way he was before his foot resting against her calf. "Name's Jack," he smiled more. Will sighed. Ryan straightened himself taller looking closer to his sister. Fox's eyes gleamed.
"Jack, maybe you shouldn't pressure her," Will said, eyeing Ryan carefully. Fox shrugged.
"Fox," she answered. Jack quirked up a bit, Ryan stepped from behind the counter.
"Fox? That's a pretty name," he said finishing off his drink. Fox nodded carefully. She picked up the picture and refilled his cup. Jack pushed the picture aside. "I'm not into rum that all much mid day, love," Jack pursed his lips in concentration. Where had he seen that face? It was pretty then its pretty now. He tilted her head with a light touch.
"Remind you of something?" She asked. Her voice bell like, crisp, and beautiful, just like that Siren he screwed a few months back. And her eyes lulled him in like that Mermaid who tried to screw him, which he personally didn't think possible. He smiled could that Siren sing or what?
"Yes, you do, Will I fancy that she looks like a friend of mine from when I was a boy." Jack tilted his head.
"Yeah, she's my little sister," Ryan stood behind Jack. Jack grinned even broader.
"She was pretty then, and she's pretty now." He stood and embraced the man.
"I was wondering when the tides would shove through here, can't say I'm none too disappointed," Ryan laughed his blue eyes twinkling.
"Her voice," Jack said, releasing his old friend.
"What about it?"
"She sounds like that Siren I screwed a few months back," Jack said matter of factly. Ryan laughed and clapped Jack on the back.
"You always did have more balls than brains my old friend, Fox you remember my old Apprentice mate Jack Sparrow do you?" He looked to his sister. She nodded brightly. Ryan frowned a bit. "Yeah that you do; so then my pirate friend, what brings you here? Your maps? Honestly, they're more fun to look at than read," Ryan laughed heartily with his sister who sounded like the sea. Jack rolled his eyes.
"And yet your compasses always pointed south,"
"Yours never pointed north either,"
"No, the one I made was meant to not to point north because I never cared to find north you on the other hand were," Jack grinned.
"Well Master did say you had talent,"
"What in art or compasses?" Jack asked sitting down with his friend. Ryan shrugged. "By the way, let me introduce you to my Niece's aunt's nephew twice removed cousin, eunuch," Jack pointed to Will.
"Oh so Bill did knock her up then aye?" Ryan studied Will for a moment.
"Well if we're talking about men who have more balls and would screw a tree if he could, he's the man," Jack nodded, Ryan grunted in agreement.
"He looks like the man from the dead,"
"That's what I thought,"
"Only he looks better," Ryan nodded to Jack.
"They say I look just like him," Will chipped in; Ryan swerved his head to him.
"They lied," Fox burst into laughter. Jack chuckled and Ryan shrugged it off. Instead he kicked Jack's foot of his sister's calf. Jack cast him a sideways glance. Will turned pink. Jack nodded his agreements and turned serious to his friend.
"I'm going straight to the point Ryan," Jack said nodding his head, Ryan sighed.
"Look you and that dammed Isla de Muerta shit; Jack give it up,"
"Um, I wasn't going to ask that," Jack shrugged lightly looking to his sister. "I said what I meant that night I ran away," Jack turned grave. Fox looked to her hands. Ryan sighed. "You said you'd keep your end of the deal,"
"That I did," Ryan nodded in agreement. "How in God's holy name did I say yes?"
"You were drunk and loaded."
"Hey wasn't that the night Bill found out he'd knocked her up?" Ryan asked.
"Sure was, member what I said to him?" Jack asked. Fox laughed.
"Oh yes, let's face it you knocked her up, now you had better run town if you want to be single!" Fox laughed falling to the floor. "Good lord wasn't he the first to lose his?" She asked. Jack laughed at her; Ryan couldn't help but smile a bit.
"So what are you saying?" Will asked.
"Hey, we didn't skip town till you were two, and your father never did marry who was it…Elizabeth? Was that her name?" Ryan asked.
"What
a strange thing! Will's wife is named Elizabeth!"
"Which
one?" The two men burst into fits of laughter clapping each other
on the shoulder. Jack stood up throwing a piece of eight on the table
grinning as he did so. He leaned over and kissed Fox's cheek. He
traced the edge of jowl line with his forefinger.
"She is lovely, really turned out well, Ryan, remember our bargain," He turned to his friend. Ryan crossed his arms over his chest. He frowned slightly, looking to his old friend.
"How many years were we all on the account?" he asked. Jack shrugged.
"Doesn't matter," Jack answered.
"Well it dose to me, I wish it were as simple as it sounds Jack I really do,"
"What happened?" Jack became concerned.
"Thought the crew had done you in, didn't think you'd made it on that island," Ryan sighed. Fox looked to Jack. She stood and took his hand.
"Jack, dear, we all had our hopes for you, we really did,"
"But what?"
"Sometimes we need to move on," She looked to him pitying.
"If she's marring the Commodore, shoot me!" Jack said. Ryan sighed and Fox kissed his cheek.
"You were a good man," she nodded her head.
