DEBRIEFING
By the Goddess of Silence
"Anyone here?" James called out quietly. The room was dark and not a sound echoed through the halls of MI6. Moneypenny wasn't at her desk and M's door stood open and empty. He rubbed his dirty arms, aching from the long trip home. His last mission had made him wish he wasn't a secret agent. He longed to see a familiar face.
"Hello, James," said a voice from behind him. He turned to see Miss Moneypenny standing in the doorway, a stack of papers in her hands. Her face was covered with relief at the sight of him. There hadn't been any contact from the legendary 007 for close to four weeks. Everyone had suspected him dead.
"Moneypenny," he gasped, going to her. He embraced her in a hug, his body rippling with fear from the mission he had just completed. He had been sure he was going to die. He had been sure that it was all over for him. She held his to her breast, too shaken to speak. She had lost all hope of his return. She was sure that her fantasy lover had been destroyed by his enemies. "M," James said into her hair. She nodded.
"She will be here soon, James. She will be so very pleased to see you." Moneypenny said, breathing in his deep, sweaty scent.
"And are you pleased to see me?" he asked quietly. They had fought before he had left, and he was curious as to what her feelings towards him were. Was the hug simply an embrace of surprise? Or was she truly glad to see him?
"Oh, James, I have been thinking of you since the day you left. I have dreamed of your return. I am so sorry. I shouldn't have said those things," she said, a few tears falling from her eyes. She was so overjoyed to see him. Her soul had been broken since he had departed.
"But you were right, Moneypenny. I am an arrogant, playboyish pig," he said through tears and laughter, wiping her eyes. "And I am sorry I had to leave on a bad note. How can I ever make it up to you?" Now his usual self was back, and he looked down upon her.
"I have a few ideas, James. You know, you never made good on your innuendos. Perhaps this would be a good time to start. You broke my heart, James; think about that." The tears stopped rolling down her cheeks as she knew all would be well. He smiled and pulled her closer to him.
"Are you sure? I just traveled a long way, haven't yet had a bath, and came very close to death."
"Oh, I'm sure," Moneypenny breathed, her lips slightly parted. James' came in contact with hers and she felt a shiver run down her spine. It was what she had longed for since day one. A mixture of relief, satisfaction and passion forced the two of them onto her desk intertwined in each other and the darkness all around. His hands found the buttons of her blouse and hers the cold gun beneath the jacket. Tossing it aside, she slowly pulled his shirt from his pants, drawing his body closer to her.
His mouth pulled away for a second. Just long enough for him to murmur,
"I should have taken up on your offers long ago." His lips met hers again in an even longer, more passionate kiss.
Both of them blinked rapidly as the lights flickered on. James glanced over his bare shoulder to see a stern M standing in the door way. Her hands were on her hips and a scowl was on her mouth. Moneypenny put a hand on his chest, forcing him off of her. She sat up on the desk covered in sweat and extremely embarrassed.
James started to speak, but M held up a halting hand.
"I'm glad to see you're back, 007. I would invite you into my office for a debriefing, but it seems Miss Moneypenny has already done that for you." She said, a sly grin on her face as James buckled his belt. "Miss Moneypenny, please continue. I know how much the two of you have missed each other." She concluded as she went into her office and shut the door behind herself. James looked at Moneypenny and Moneypenny looked at James. He leaned over her and kissed her one last time. It felt good to be back.
