Thoughts of a Maverick Hunter
I always wondered if I made the right decision. At the time, fighting the mavericks seemed like the right thing to do.
But I always wondered what would have happened if I hadn't fiought.
Surely, millions would have died, and Earth would have been at Sigma's mercy. I don't want, never wanted, never will want that to happen.
Still, I chose to fight, and millions have died anyway. Sometimes it feels as if I'm just prolonging the inevitable.
Why? Why must we all fight?How long will this danm war go on for? I know I've lost track of the times I asked myself that, but really, is there no other way?
And even after I defeat Sigma this time, will it be permanently? Will he just come back over and over, and over, and over again, until we fail?
Will I be destroyed in the final battle? Or will I be destroyed early on, leaving only Zero and Axl to save the world from Sigma's seemingly eternal threat?
Or will both of them be destroyed, and I'll be left to stop Sigma all by myself?
Or will all of us just keep repeating this danmed cycle of endless violence, thwarting Sigma for all eternity?
All these questions plague me every day. I have no answers to any of them.
Still, there is one thing I do know: I will fight to my last breath. I will not let that scum Sigma win. I refuse to let it happen.
Zero, Axl, Alia, Signas, Dr. Light, and so many others…
They are all depending on me. I refuse to lose, at least not without taking Sigma with me… permanently.
I hear Alia calling me. It's time to go.
I may not know what's in store for me, but I do know that I will face it with dignity and strength, refusing to be destroyed until I fulfill my mission: to bring peace back to this broken, shattered, damned mess of a world.
It may seem impossible, but it is my mission, and I will complete it.
And if not for my sake, then for the sake of all.
