Unspoken Silence

Hinata walked along a path back to Konoha with her team, content with her life, they had just finished a mission. With the info they collected, the ANBU could now deal with one of the notorious missing nins. In the past few years, team 8 had been dubbed 'Searcher'. They had Kiba's sense of smell, Shino's bugs, and Hinata's byakugan, to create one of the best combinations for tracking down nins.

Akamaru approached the timid girl. Looking up at her, he barked a few times, trying to attract her attention. She scooped him up into her arms, "What's that? You want Kiba?" Hinata's eyes located her teammate far ahead of them and when she looked at him, he instantly turned around.

He understood her as she understood him. They had an unspoken language between the two of them. When she was too nervous to speak, he would always pipe in, voicing her opinions. When Shino wouldn't listen to the overactive teammate, she would always help them reach the 'middle ground'.

On missions with other teams, when they spoke, it was softly in whistles and grunts, sometimes in birdcalls. But team 8 mainly depended on Akamaru's barking. Many of their targets don't notice a random dog bark here or there, but team 8 knew the different between a 'bark' and an 'arf'.

When they approached Kiba, Hinata looked up at him. "Kiba-kun, I think he's catching a cold." Mumbled Hinata.

Kiba looked Akamaru over before placing him inside his sweatshirt. "You're getting much better at reading his bark pattern Hinata," his face broke out into a grin, "I'm glad I gave you that mini lesson." He said.

From farther ahead, Shino stopped and waited for his teammates to catch up. When they reached him, he glanced at Akamaru.

"Take better care of him, Kiba." He said in an aloof tone. Kiba nodded, knowing that Shino could tell that Akamaru was sick. Shino turned without another word and started to walk off, leaving Hinata and Kiba, with Akamaru in his arms. The two glanced at each other and then ran to catch up.

"Shino-kun, watch out!" Came Hinata's warning, but Shino was too slow. The dog boy had swiftly jumped and glomped the bug lover, and Hinata giggled at the site.

Hinata smiled, she was not simply content, she was happy. For the first time in her life, she could smile and be happy. Becoming team 8 with Shino and Kiba was one of the best things that had ever happened to her.
