-1 THE PICNIC

Stepping into the light of the sunshine Bella noticed something she hadn't noticed before. A sparkle to her skin almost as if she had a million little pieces of sequence glued to her. She was so mesmerized by her own shine that she didn't even notice the person standing next to her.

"Different isn't It." said a sweet velvety voice.

"Ya, really different." she replied without taking her eyes of herself.

"Come on, if your going to be a vampire now you're going to have to learn to deal with stuff like that."

"I know" she replied in an almost mocking tone. Edward took her hand and led her through the clearing, the same one they had gone to months before. Today it had been the same as the first time they came. The sky was a visible blue with the warm sunshine hitting their backs. The wind was blowing thru their hair and cooling the day. They walked together Edward holding Bella tight at his side. Walking farther in something became visible, a red and white checkered picnic blanket. As Bella stared a wide grin grew across her face.

"What is this for?" she asked staring into his eyes. Now that she was a vampire there was no need for her to eat, Edward was sure to know that.

"You must be thirsty. It's been almost 2 weeks since you recovered. As far as I know you haven't eaten Charlie and I'm with you every other second of the day, so I know you haven't been hunting."

"Wow! Thanks, but why did we need the picnic blanket?" she replied confusion spreading over her face.

"I thought it would be sort of nice to have. Sort of like relating hunting to going on a picnic. And I thought it might make your first hunt a little easier. "

The smile on Bella's face grew as she leaned in too brush her lips against his.

"I really appreciate how you're trying to make this as easy for me as possible." Not wanting to mention that the picnic blanket really didn't make any sense although it was a nice thought. She pulled away from him without any struggle and looked straight into his eyes.

"But I told you, I don't always want to be Lois lane. I want a try at being superman"

And with that she sped off toward the dense forest on the other side of the clearing.

Edward stared in astonishment. For one he had never seen Bella run since the day she turned into a vampire, but the reason he was glued to the ground in shock wasn't the fact that she could run, or run without tripping. It was the fact that she returned seconds later carrying a dead buck about the size of a mini cooper. He had never seen a vampire run so fast, even faster than himself. She was going to be better than him at something after all.
