AN: Ok people, this is my first Desperate Housewives fic, so go easy on me. Just a quick 'Brex' oneshot, hope you like it.

Bree couldn't understand him.
"Damnit Bree!"
They just fought all the time. It seemed that the two of them never agreed on anything, ever. Bree desperatedly wanted to try and save her marriage, but when the fighting got underway she couldn't seem to control herself. But she still loved him. She would always love him.
Tough, you think you've got the stuff
You're telling me and anyone
You're hard enough
You don't have to put up a fight
You don't have to always be right
Let me take some of the punches
For you tonight
Nothing seemed to work. Marriage counselling, pleasant reasoning, everything they tried seemed to backfire. And even when they made up and were a real couple again, something always got in the way and tore them apart once again. Bree was sick of it, she wouldn't take it anymore. She couldn't take it.
Listen to me now
I need to let you know
You don't have to go it alone
And it's you when I look in the mirror
And it's you when I don't pick up the phone
Sometimes you can't make it
On your own
And now what was she doing? Dating another man.. George. Well, he was lovely of course, but he was no Rex Van De Kamp. Bree understood that he had tried to be, but he would just never be. She knew that, and Rex of course knew that. But now it was like George was competing for her, and it seemed that he was losing. Bree was never going to fall out of love with Rex, but George didn't seem to get that. He flared up everytime she mentioned Rex, and Bree was even worried for his health.
We fight all the time
You and I, that's alright
We're the same soul
I don't need
I don't need to hear you say
That if we weren't so alike
You'd like me a whole lot more
Listen to me now
I need to let you know
You don't have to go it alone
He was looking at her. Bree turned her head and caught him staring at her from across the room. As soon as she glanced at him Rex jumped and looked away. Sighing, Bree sipped her tea and crossed her legs, then set her cup down on the coffee table. There was a brief silence, inwhich Bree could feel her husband's gaze upon her. Finally she couldn't take it anymore and slowly got up and walked off into the kitchen.
And it's you when I look in the mirror
And it's you when I don't pick up the phone
Sometimes you can't make it
On your own
I know that we don't talk
I'm sick of it all
Can you hear me when
I sing, you're the reason I sing
You're the reason why the opra is in me
Hearing Rex getting up in the other room, Bree pretended to be cleaning up in the kitchen, though her heart was pounding faster and faster with every beat. Presently, Rex shuffled into the kitchen and stared at her for a long moment before getting a drink. Bree didn't look at him, she feared that if she did something might occur between them, and Bree didn't want that. No, she really didn't.
Where are we now?
I've still got to let you know
A house still doesn't make a home
Don't leave me alone
And it's you when I look in the mirror
And it's you when I don't pick up the phone
Sometimes you can't make it
On your own
Not being able to take it anymore, Bree cleared her throat and said in a choked voice, "I'm going over to Lynette's house. I'll be back a little later.. just get some rest while I'm gone, okay?" Rex turned to her, and Bree flinched, but kept her eyes on him. "Yeah, okay." Rex said shortly, turning away again.
Sometimes you can't make it
The best you can do is to fake it
Sometimes you can't make it
On your own
Heaving a sigh of relief, Bree left him in the kitchen and left for Lynette's house. As she left though, she could have sworn that her husband flashed her a smile as she walked by the window.
