Nothing seemed to be going Rodney's way today.
Alarm clock woke him up every hour on the hour all night.
Water crystals in his shower seemed to be stuck on boiling.
Tripped over some toys some of the Athosian kids had left in the hall.
Sheppard beat him to the last cup of coffee in the mess hall.
The latest Ancient device they'd discovered seemed eerily akin to a garage door opener and it's only function appeared to be to raise and lower the blinds in the lab.
Kavanagh spilled coffee all over Rodney's notebook.
Infirmary systems crashed.
Rodney threw his hands up in frustration. He wanted nothing more that to go back to his quarters, sleep away the rest of the day, and attempt to forget this day ever happened. Trying to avoid any other mishaps, Rodney made his way to Weir's office. When he was in plain sight of the door, Rodney thought he might just make it without incident.
THWACK
"Dr. McKay!" came Teyla's panicked voice. "I am so sorry!" The Athosian woman pulled the conference room door away from his face. "I did not see you."
Rodney glared at her. "Didn't see me? Didn't see me? This entire area has transparent walls and you DIDN'T SEE ME?"
Teyla helped Rodney regain his balance. "I truly am sorry Dr. McKay."
Rodney rapped on Elizabeth's door. Before she had a chance to answer, Rodney waltzed in.
"'Lizabeth, you have to hide me!"
Weir peered curiously at Rodney. "Hide you? From what?"
"Life!" He moved around the room and pulled down all the shades. "Life is after me and it's pissed!"
Weir smiled slightly. "Life isn't out to get you Rodney."
"Well, maybe not life in general, but there's definitely something karma-esque going on." Rodney proceeded to recount for Elizabeth everything that had went wrong since the moment he woke up this morning.
Weir held a hand up to stop his rant. "Rodney, go home. Go get a bite to eat and take the rest of the day off."
"Really?" he said hopefully.
"Can't have my Chief Scientific Advisor thinking that something's out to get him. I'm sure everything will be better tomorrow morning."
Rodney didn't need to be told twice. He ran out of Weir's office at lightning fast speed, dodging bustling bodies here and there as he made a beeline for his quarters. Once he was in the safety of the four walls of his quarters, he dove beneath the blankets and crashed hard.
Rodney woke early the next morning. No incessant alarm. All good so far.
He padded over to the bathroom and stripped down, stepping into the shower. He pressed the 'ON' button and suddenly screeched to high heaven.
Nothing but ice-cold water.
