Hey though I'd put this next chapter up before school starts up again because I won't have enough time with finals and all, so here's chapter 6.
p.s. I'm thinking about making a sequel called 'why now?' here's the summary (During Rick and Evy's wedding all hell breaks loose, sending Evy unconscious for a while, leaving Rick and Jonathan to take care of her just as her uncle calls up and wants to see her again, will he see Rick in a new light?) well it's just an idea, if you like it please let me know and I'll finish up this story and get started on that one.
The day of the wedding had arrived and Evy stood in the bridals chamber looking at her self in the mirror. Her long white dress went to her ankles letting her white high heels show. The dress had no sleeves and hugged her figure a little too much for her liking.
As she looked in the mirror, tears began to fall from her face, her mascara near leaking as well.
"Hey beautiful." A voice called from behind her, making Evy turn around.
Standing there was Rick and Jonathan; she ran over and hugged them both.
"I'll give you some time alone, just make it quick." Jonathan said and left the room to keep guard.
The second the door was closed Evy pulled Rick close and kissed him passionately, her knees weakening as his tongue invaded her mouth. Rick pulled away and looked Evy in the eyes. He saw so much love hidden behind so much fear. He pulled her close as her tears began to fall again.
"You sure you should be wearing white?" Rick asked after a while trying to get her to laugh.
She playfully punched him in the shoulder, laughing, "yes, but I don't have you to thank for that."
"Hey, you came on to me." he said joking around hoping to get her mind off the matter at hand and succeeding.
"Yes, well that may be true; you did nothing to stop me."
"And I never will."
"Ohh, you stop." She said smiling then kissed him lightly. "I shouldn't be here." She said after a while from Rick's chest crying again. "At least not like this. You should be the one waiting for me at the end of that isle, not my best friend."
Rick held her, if possible, closer to his chest and swayed her back and forth as he had done that night in her room.
"Shh, don't cry, I'm here. Don't worry someday I will be the one at the other end of the isle and you'll be the one I'm going to marry. You still have the ring?" Rick asked her. The day before her aunt had asked her where it came from and Evy came up with a lie saying she found it on a dig, and then she took it off and hid it.
"Yes" Evy said as she pulled the ring out of her top, it was on the same chain as her locket and rested against her chest. "It's as close as I could get it to my heart." She said showing him.
He lowered his head and kissed her again. First it started out slowly then got deeper as the seconds went by. The next thing they knew Evy's straps to her dress were off her shoulders and the top was staying up only by Rick's hands.
Rick's lips left Evy's mouth and went to her neck as she moaned.
"Wow! Ok, that's enough!" Jonathan called angrily from the door.
Rick and Evy jumped at the sound of his voice and pulled apart. They hadn't told Jonathan that they'd been intimate with the other and weren't about to either. Evy turned around and walked out of view to fix her dress.
She turned around and smiled at Rick as he walked out.
"Honestly, I can't leave you two alone for one minute, can I?" he asked somewhat seriously and somewhat joking. He wasn't as mad as one would think, he knew Rick and Evy loved each other, which is why he was going to do all he could to get his little sister out of this mess.
Just as Rick and Jonathan left Evy's three female cousins, Debra, Stacy, and Karen, entered with both of her aunts.
"Oh, Evy. I'm so happy for you." Debbie said helping Stacy and Monica put up Evy's hair.
"You don't know how lucky you are to be marrying someone like Chris." Karen said fixing Evy's almost ruined make up.
"Yes child, I'm sure you'll make a fantastic wife and mother." Larissa said fixing the straps Evy had hurried to put back on.
As her aunts and cousins talked about how great Chris was only one remark stayed in her head, "a mother?" Evy asked.
"Well yes dear." Larissa said looking at her oddly. "Surely you'll have children." And that's when it hit Evy, this was real, there was no other way out, she was going to marry Chris whether she liked it or not. Evy held back tears as she continued to be made up by her family.
Once they were done they left the room and took their places, her aunts in the audience and her cousins as the bridesmaids.
Evy took her place behind everybody, holding on to her Uncle Daniel's arm as he got ready to give his niece away. Her hair was tied back and only a few curls were falling loose.
Tears formed in Evy's eyes again and soon became two mini Niles. As everybody walked down the isle, everyone noticed the tears and mistook them for tears of joy when only three knew they were of pain and sorrow.
As they reached the alter Evy was placed in front of Chris and tried to smile, but failed. He tried to smile back, but was just as successful.
"We are gathered here today in the house of the lord to join these two people together in holy matrimony." The priest spoke, "if anybody has a reason why these two should not be wed, speak now or forever hold your peace."
All went silent, a silence that seemed to last forever, the priest took a breath then right before he spoke a voice called out, "I object!" everyone looked around to see where the voice had come from, everyone stopped when they saw Rick standing up, Jonathan at his side.
Everyone watched with hateful stares as Rick made his way to the middle of the isle.
"And why is that?" Chris asked looking over to Rick, sure Evy was like a sister, but he still wasn't about to loose her until he knew what this man wanted.
"I love her with my life." Rick said staring him down.
"As do I." Chris lied, just to act like he didn't know what was going on.
"That may be true, but does she love you?" Rick asked.
Everyone looked to Evy, who was now smiling brightly and looking at Rick.
"Well?" Chris asked smiling, knowing full well her answer. Evy found the strength, threw the flowers to the floor and ran over to Rick, as she approached him she jumped into his arms and kissed him, not caring who saw. Chris watched and smiled to himself seeing she was happy, however, someone else wasn't.
"I demand an explanation!" Daniel yelled his voice echoing off of the chapel walls.
