Who You'd Be Today
Summary: Songfic, oneshot! Harry visits Sirius's grave at the magical worls' cemetary (I know, leave me alone, I couldn't think). The song "Who You'd Be Today suddenly pops in his memory as he had remembered listening to some muggle counrty station and the song came up...
Mel: Bleh, bad summary, but good story, please read!
Disclaimer: I own nothing but the story idea...
Harry knelt in front of the grave of his godfather, rain pelting his once dry clothing. His black tee shirt and black jeans stuck to his body from being in the rain too long. Harry's messy hair stuck to him as well. His glasses covering his green eyes were drenched with tears and rain as well. The boy was here to talk to his godfather. For some odd reason, he just knew Sirius could hear his every word.
"Sirius... why'd you have to go? You didn't have to come, but you did anyways... you d-died in the process," Harry said, his voice cracked from crying. He thought for a moment of a proper song he'd heard before, for every time he came, he sang for Sirius.
"Sunny days seem to hurt the most.
I wear the pain like a heavy coat.
I feel you everywhere I go.
I see your smile, I see your face,
I hear you laughin' in the rain.
I still can't believe you're gone."
He slowly watched the stone, his voice cracking with each word he uttered.
"It ain't fair: you died too young,
Like the story that had just begun,
But death tore the pages all away.
God knows how I miss you,
All the hell that I've been through,
Just knowin' no-one could take your place.
An' sometimes I wonder,
Who'd you be today?"
His tears fell faster as the rain increased. He knew Sirius wasn't there, otherwise he would have seen the man... Right?
"Would you see the world? Would you chase your dreams?
Settle down with a family,
I wonder what would you name your babies?
Some days the sky's so blue,
I feel like I can talk to you,
An' I know it might sound crazy."
He finally plopped down, weak, laying on the soggy and muddy grass.
"It ain't fair: you died too young,
Like the story that had just begun,
But death tore the pages all away.
God knows how I miss you,
All the hell that I've been through,
Just knowin' no-one could take your place.
An' sometimes I wonder,
Who you'd be today?"
The young boy knew the song almost over, then he'd happily go home and try burning his skin with a hot shower, like he usually did after visiting his godfather every other Friday aftrernoon. He usually did it after work as an Auror for the Ministry of Magic.
"Today, today, today.
Today, today, today.
/Instrumental Break/
Sunny days seem to hurt the most.
I wear the pain like a heavy coat.
The only thing that gives me hope,
Is I know I'll see you again some day.
Some day, some day, some day."
He stood after finishing. He bowed to the grave and whispered a goodbye.
After Harry left, Sirius in his ghost form, along with Harry's father, James, appeared near the spot that Harry once occupied.
"I feel so bad for him... he's so sad now..." Sirius said as a single tear streaked down his white cheek.
"He's a strong boy... he will manage, Sirius, c'mon, let's head back... especially before Lily finds out where we went..." James said, heading towards the heavens and soon followed by Sirius, the two disappearing into thin air.
Mel/smiles lightly/ I hope ya'll liked it... if so, ya'll know what to do! Just review and tell me your opinion! Flames are ok but not too many please...
