She stands alone as the unit's so-called 'courtroom element'. Of all the assignments she'd least expected to get four years ago, Manhattan's SVU was definitely it. But she is glad that she took it. Over the years, the detectives she works with have taught her much….about the way things work, about themselves, and about the unit.

The District Attorney has already warned her that she is getting herself into dangerous territory with this latest case. And now, she sits in her office, contemplating what she's been told. After a while, she decides that she's not going to let it drop. After all, if one is going to break the law, someone has to step up to defend it.

She's never been one to back down on anything. But what she doesn't know is that, ultimately, this case will be her last one. And even if she had known, it is more than likely that she still wouldn't have let it go.

After all, there are many who will continue to break the law. And she is one of those who will continue to pursue those that do in order to uphold it…come what may.

A/N: So I was thinking about Loss and about Cabot and this is what came out...meh. Anyways, SVU's not mine...
