It amazes them sometimes how quickly the city can bounce back from something. It's as if one minute everyone is focused on how inadequate the police are, how much of a failure ACS is. And the next minute, it's as if they've found more important things to dwell on.
It's the same in the unit, but there's a reason for that. They can't afford to keep themselves stuck on any one case. Not when so many come in every day. Sure , they might take one more personally than they take another and stay awake all night because of some of them,. But they don't dwell. They have no time for it.
But even if they don't, it doesn't mean that they let old cases they've worked slip from their minds…not at all .
The city might forget about those who have lost their innocence or their lives, but if there is one thing that they know for sure, it is that the things they see each day on a first-hand basis are not so easily forgotten.
A/N: More of the fics that come out of me when I get bored. I tell you, I should get bored more often, no? Anyways, SVU's not mine and so I shall go and see if I can't find out what I did with my s2 DVDs to console myself by watching Manhunt...or maybe Legacy...
