The case is finally closed. Mind you, it had taken months to do, but it is finally closed. And still the fact brings no comfort. It never does. It never will.

He sits there in the silence of the squad room, just waiting for the others to say something. He's heard the rumors about how he's finally starting to crack…about his new status as the department's proverbial ticking time bomb. So he waits. But no comments come.

After a while, it all starts to become too much. His eyes start to burn, a sure sign of a coming display of emotions. So he rises to his feet, abruptly, the sound of his chair scraping backwards on the floor drowned out by the sound of the thunder outside. The others watch, but remain silent as he leaves the squad room without a word.

Lightning flashes as he reaches the precinct exit, but he ignores it, and pushing open the door, he steps out into the raging storm.

A few seconds later, he's staring up at the darkened sky, thankful for the rain that hides the tears streaming down his face.

A/N: Yeah, so...I get bored while I'm sitting there doing nothing and this is what comes. I have really got to get a life..one that preferrably contains something that's actually mine, which SVU is not.
