It was one year. One year since she had said goodbye to the one person who meant the most to her. She could still feel the warmth of his smile, the thud of his beating heart, and his butterfly-soft touch. She could have sworn she heard him approach, but she knew that if she checked for him she would only be disappointed. She was alone. She would always be alone.
She clutched Pantalaimon closer to her chest as she looked out on the now peaceful Oxford. She still loved her world, but without Will it could never be the same.
