A dragon is sighted around London... But does it have any connection with the odd way Sherlock has been acting?

When Bilbo Baggins went to steal gold from a dragon, he found that the dragon wasn't quite what he had expected. To be fair, he wasn't what the dragon had predicted either.

"We need you to help us slay a dragon, Dr Watson. Mr Gandalf assures us you are ideally suited for our purposes." "A dragon?" John asked. "The ones in the zoo don't seem particularly threatening." Thorn gave him a wry smile. "A metaphorical dragon, doctor. One named Moriarty. Perhaps you've heard of him?"

Towards the end of Sherlock's three years away, he agrees to meet Gandalf near Bag End having gone there to spy on Moran in one of the dark areas of Middle Earth. At a low point, and beginning to question why he should bother going back to London at all, he comes across Bilbo Baggins. Can an unexpected talk with him remind Sherlock what is left to fight for back home?

In anticipation for The Hobbit film, I took inspiration from Benedict's and Martin's subsequent appearances and wrote this piece, combining the best of both worlds and characters. The seemingly insignificant hobbit Johnbo Watgins ventures into the lair of a dragon by orders of the dwarven king only to discover a startling surprise by gaining a deductive-loving friend along the way.
