FAQ's by Mary Sues, a collaborative fanfic by mis.mira and All-Knowing Alien
(A/N) Hello people! My name is Mira and this is my sister Alien (both wave at the screen), and this is an experimental type of thing. What we want you guys to do, is to read it and then tell us what you think by hitting that little blue-ish button at the bottom of your screen. We also yearn for lots of questions to keep this thing going…
Disclaimer: Don't own LoTR, we don't even have enough money between us to buy a good laptop, I think. But we're saving up…look out world!
Warning: Blatant disregard of Tolkein's books. Ah well. Also, 'tis a mixture of the book and the movie.
OoOoOoOoOo
Dear authors,
I was just wondering, but when I observe Legolas in the Two Towers, he appears to ride a horse with a saddle, and I'm like, 'Don't Elves ride without saddles?' I think the only reason I saw it was when he did that sooper kewl move by grabbing onto the horse's saddle thing. (Sighs dreamily)
Hope you could clear this up for me, and I would also want to know his star sign to check whether we're compatible. (What am I saying? Of course we are!)
Love,
Iluv Leggi
Well, this is a simple question. (I refer to the first one, of course.) To answer it, we go back to Legolas' early years, when our hero is barely an elfling, on his first horse ride…
((Flashback))
It was early spring in Mirkwood, and the prince was to ride his first horse. It is custom for royalty to learn the skills of horse riding, archery, swordsmanship, literature and history as well as being well-versed in the politics of the Elves and the rest of Middle-Earth. As the weather was pleasant, Legolas' tutor decided to let the young elf learn to ride.
And so, Legolas was brought to the clearing near the stables, where he was brought a horse, a fine specimen; tall and white, ribbons braided carefully into its mane and tail.
"Now, young Prince, mount your horse, Aznavour, like me." His tutor, a fair haired elf dressed in soft suede and calfskin boots, proceeded to show him exactly how he was to achieve this.
Legolas, who had been beginning to get bored, hurried to do so, and managed to get onto his horse, albeit ungracefully.
"Hmm. Well, we shall work on that later. For now, just keep up with me, understood? Aznavour will know what to do. She is very gentle." The tutor clicked his tongue twice and muttered something in Elvish, and his own horse obediently started into a trot. Aznavour followed behind.
The scream that followed afterwards was said to echo throughout the whole of Mirkwood.
"MY NUTS! MY BEAUTIFUL ELVISH NUTS!"
Legolas' mother, Nienna, who had been overseeing the prince's lesson, frowned, her forehead puckering delicately. "Nuts, dear heart? They aren't in season yet." Like her husband, Thranduil, she wore a crown of woodland flowers to signal the coming of spring.
"Notthosenutsmother, mynuts! Legolas said this all in a high pitched voice, toppling off his horse gracelessly, his small crown of silver dropping off, clutching at his…well, nuts.
"Oh. Oh." His mother sighed and walked over to her twitching son. "Your father had the same problem. One really didn't expect you to be any different," she remarked fondly, smoothing the hair off his forehead and replacing his fallen circlet.
Legolas, quite understandably, did not reply.
"He'll have to use a saddle from now on, I'm afraid," the Queen told his tutor, nodding at Legolas. "Legolas, dear, please get up, you are ruining your lovely silk shirt Lady Ariadne sent you."
Legolas groaned. "Yes, mother."
((End of flashback))
And there we have it! Why Leggy never rides bareback. In fact, whenever he sees a horse without a saddle, he'll twitch uncontrollably.
As for his star sign, I have no idea if they HAD star signs then, so, whatever!
