Gareth Keenan finds out that the Elephant Shrew is in fact a relative of the Elephant, and comes into work the next day very proud of his newly acquired knowledge. Being who he is, Gareth feels that he MUST investigate this matter, and see how many people know the Elephant Shrews' true identity.
So, Gareth strides into work proudly; and sighs as he settles himself in his chair. Tim glances at him as Gareth begins to swivel round in his chair, before returning to his work.
He keeps his eyes fixed on the computer screen as Gareth taps the desk, impatient to ask Tim about shrews. But he holds himself back; knowing that it will have more of an impact on Tim if he sits at his desk for a while without speaking.
Tim looks at Gareth again who is still persistently tapping his fingers on the edge of his desk. What was wrong with the man? He turns his attention back to his computer where a Word document is open. Tim had been writing something; but now, completely loosing his thread due to Gareth, he sits. Fingers poised above the keyboard.
Gareth tries to work, but he just can't concentrate! The knowledge wants to burst from him. So he stops tapping the desk; and begins to speak.
"Right, Tim. As you know I am Team Leader…"
"Team Leader! Gareth, what does 'Team leader' mean?" Tim scoffs.
"What? Do you want me to tell you?" Gareth says, disappointed at the start of the convocation.
"Yep." Tim nods back.
"What I do?"
"Yeah, amaze me."
'Sarcastic,' Though Gareth, annoyed. 'Not funny.' "Well Team Leader means that I am leader of this team." He says.
"What team, Gareth?" Tim leans back in his chair, smirking.
"You, you're in my team. And Dawn…well, no not Dawn. She's just a receptionist, but him; that skinhead over there. He's in my team." Gareth says matter of factly.
"Right, whatever you say."
"So I need to ask you a question…" Gareth continues; trying to get back on track.
"Because I'm in your team?" Tim asks mockingly.
"Yes. It's an IQ question though, so you'll probably fail." Gareth laughs, pleased with what he said. Tim is not amused. "OK, name a relative of the Elephant Shrew." He said into Tim's silence.
"How is that an IQ test, Gareth?" Tim frowns.
"It just is."
"No, it's a 'How much do you know about shrews' test."
This, of course, was true.
"Well, you failed." Gareth says, and looks back at his blank computer screen. Pretending to be deeply involved in some important work.
'I've got to get out of here,' Thinks Tim, 'This man is a cock.'
