Dreams
Sara thinks she still loves Grissom.
She used to dream about him, too. He was always gentle and caring. He would always tell her he loved her before and afterward he would whisper some obscure quote she never quite understood before they fell asleep in each other's arms. She liked the predictability; it felt safe.
Sara thinks she still loves Grissom, but she doesn't like to think about why her dreams changed.
Why she remembers running her fingers through fine strawberry-blond hair. Her hands going over smooth, soft curves.
Her new dreams are never predictable. The first were as gentle as the ones that came before, with them curled up in her bed. Now she sometimes wakes still immersed in memories of rough, passionate moments in Catherine's office. In her Denali or against her front door. Or on Grissom's desk.
She doesn't like how detailed they are. How light peaks through her curtains and plays with the shadows on Catherine's face and body. How sometimes one of them will say that they shouldn't, that they could get caught, and the other will reply that they don't care. If they weren't so detailed she wouldn't blush when Catherine leans close at work and her mind wouldn't wander when the woman places a hand at the small of her back.
If she had a favorite it would be the locker room. Pinning Catherine down on the benches after being pushed up against the lockers with hands gripping her hips so hard that they left marks. But she doesn't have one, because she doesn't like these dreams. She can't. So she comforts herself by knowing that, in people's dreams, anything imaginable can happen.
Sara never dreams that Catherine loves her.
