Summary: (AU fic) The beasts of Fuuka have gone crazy, and no one knows exactly why. All they know is that one day the once peaceful beast started to attack humans, and that it started around the time the elves disappeared...

Notes before reading: This is a completely AU fanfiction. And this chapter is more of an introduction than an actual chapter, but I decided just to make it one. The 'real' chapters WILL be longer.
Chapter 1: Separation
Two children, both females, stumbled out of a forest, coughs escaping their lips. The taller of the two wasn't coughing as heavily, and had arms draped over the other child protectively. Slowly the two moved away from the forest, before the smaller child broke into sobs. Comforting words were whispered into the little ones ear, and the arms around her tightened slightly. The sound of people running toward them, reached their ears. The two children came closer together, scared of what was coming. Before they could do anything else, they found them selves surrounded by men.
"Give up," one of them said, "please; we really don't want to hurt you," The elder girl twitched, but kept her hold on the sobbing younger girl.
"No," The elder one said, "I will not release her." The group of men looked saddened by this fact. One stepped forward, and although he was trying to hide it, the elder girl could see the tears in his eyes.
"I'm," He started, trying to steady his breath, "I truly am sorry for this," and with that slammed the butt end of the gun lightly against her head, as to knock her out for a while. The little girl fell over with the older girl, as she was still tightly clinging to the girl.
"Onee-chan?" The little girl said unlatching herself from the older girl, "Onee-chan, wake up!" She shook the elder girl's body, to no effect. More tear were finding there way to her face. A hand reached out for the child's shoulder.
"Don't worry," the same man that had knocked out the other girl said, "She's alright. So please, come with us." The girl looked at the man then back at the elder girl, before looking back at the man in silent question. "She'll come later, don't you worry. We're just going to play a game with her,"
The girl looked up at him with hopeful eyes before speaking, "Game? What game are we playing?"
The man winced before speaking, "We're going to play, 'hide-and-go-seek'. We hide, and your Onee-chan is going to look for us. Would you like to play?"
The girl wiped away her tears before nodding. The man took her hand and started to lead her away. Away from the other men who were staring at the ground guiltily, away from her Onee-chan, who she would never see again. But she didn't know that, because it was just a game, right?
Notes: Well…this is chapter one, or rather, the introduction pretending to be a chapter. Onee-chan is the only Japanese thing I will use for this story (well, with the exceptions of the names, it should be...), but the two girls are not sisters.
