Lindsay smiled as she headed for the bus, she stretched out and her knuckles started to hurt, they had been doing that for a while now but it was still annoying. She frowned but then the bus arrived and she got on, moving towards the back where her best friend Jess sat absentmindedly.
"Hey" Jess said.
"Sup?" Lindsay asked.
"Boredom" Jess replied briskly. The girls laughed as bus started down the route to Cherry Hill High. Lindsay pulled her mocha hair off her face and laughed as she discussed karate with Jess. After school that day, she headed to the hair salon and got her chocolate hair streaked with pink and tipped with blond. When she got home she realized that her knuckles still hurt and then she heard the screams and the shots, she bolted in to the living room. "Mom, Dad!" she yelled.
"Lindsay…" chocked out a body on the floor.
"Mommy?" Lindsay said.
"Look…out". Lindsay jumped, just barely dodging a metal pipe and she stretched out her arms. Out popped two claws, made of steel-like metal. "Oh MY GOD!" she yelled.
"You have to get out of here" her mom said. Lindsay shook her head.
"Not with out you" she said trying to pick up her mom but her mom just shuddered and died. "Mommy…" Lindsay said, trying not to cry. Then she heard some bangs and bolted out the window. About three hours later she came out of hiding to see the damage done to her house. It was chaotic and scrawled all over the walls, in bright red spray paint, were the words "Freak" and "Mutants Take Heed". She finally did start to cry and with one last look at her house she left. She didn't know where she was going or what she going to do once she got there but she needed to go somewhere else. She took off running and walking for over month until she arrived in Westchester, New York. She had heard there was a safe haven for mutants around here, and then a tall black woman put her hand on Lindsay's shoulder.
"Are you lost?" the woman asked. Lindsay nodded. "Are you looking for the mutant school?" Lindsay nodded again. "My name is Storm, I can take you to it".
"Um…ok" Lindsay said following Storm.
