Chapter 3: All For Swirly- Bittersweet-ness

Cindy laid up into her room singing to her Rent CD blast "Out Tonight" from her boom box.

"We don't need any money. I always get in for free. You can get in too if you get in with me. Let's go oooUUUUUtt tonight. I have to go oooUUUUUUttt tonight."

A gentle knock came to Cindy's door. Her mother slowly opened it.

"Cynthia? I'm going now."

"Mmmkay mom! Bye!" Cindy replied absentmindedly. She was too wrapped up in her fantasies of her and Jimmy together...in her house...at night...alone...with no parental supervision...

"OK, well, bye!" Cindy's mom shut her door and headed downstairs. Cindy peered out the window and watched her mother pull out of the driveway and drive down the road. Cindy ran back to her bed and lunged for the phone. It was picked up a second after the first ring.

"Hello?"

"Jimmy!"

"Hey Cin!"

"My mom's gone now! You can come over!"

"OK, I'll be there in a second." Jimmy and Cindy hung up as Cindy rushed to a mirror. She was a mess! Her hair was everywhere and her clothes were the kind you'd only want to be seen in when you're sleeping. She quickly grabbed a brush and combed out her tangles. She grabbed a hair tie and put her hair up into a long, silky ponytail. She then fished through her closet and came up with a good outfit. She put on a light pink, skin-tight tank top that tied at the neck, and white hip-hugger jeans. Her shirt was very low-cut, something she'd never be able to wear if her mother was around.

"That's why it's so perfect," she whispered to herself. Suddenly she heard a knock at the door. She ran down the stairs, tripping over her own feet and screaming, "I GOT IT! I GOT IT! DON'T GET IT! I GOT IT!" It took her until she reached the door to realize no one else was home. She gently tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear before opening the door.

"Jimmy!" she squealed, jumping into his arms. She looked up at him and kissed him lightly on the lips. When they pulled away, she grabbed his hand and led him in, closing the door behind them. He turned around to look at her, letting his jaw drop a little. Cindy met his gaze and turned slightly pink. "What?" she asked shyly.

"N-nothing!" Jimmy replied, snapping out of his trance. "You...um..you look great!" Cindy smiled shyly.

"So..." she started, "what should we do now?"

"Well, we can start with this," Jimmy replied, coming towards her. He planted a light kiss on her lips. Cindy brought her hand behind his head and deepened the kiss. She led him over to the couch (not breaking the kiss) and gently laid him down. She only broke the kiss for a second, but was soon on him again, kissing him passionately. She felt his hands trail up her shirt. She gasped softly at his soft hands. They trailed up her perfect stomach, and she giggled when he reached her tickle spot. Jimmy quickly pulled his hands away when he heard the phone ring.

"It's OK," Cindy mumbled into his lips. "Let it ring."

"Nah, Cin. We've got all night. What if it's important? You should just answer it." Cindy sighed, got up off the couch and headed for the phone.

"Hello...yes...yes...WHAT! You can't be serious!...well my boyfriend's over...no it's OK...I'm fine, really. OK...ok...thank you. Bye." Cindy hung up the phone and turned to Jimmy. Tears flooded her vision and spilled down her perfect cheeks. Jimmy stood up from the couch and took her into a warm embrace. Cindy buried her head into the crook of his neck and cried. He held her close and stroked her hair, waiting for her to tell him what was wrong. After what seemed like hours, Cindy finally lifted her head. She gazed into Jimmy's deep blue, caring eyes.

"My mom...w-was...was...in a c-car accident...sh-she's dead."
