Joy and Sorrow
"I'll always love you, Harry." Ginny murmured softly while gazing out her bedroom window. "This doesn't change anything."
From her place at the window, Ginny could see the into the garden. It looked amazing. It had been transformed into a lovely earthen chapel with benches, flowers, and the most beautiful fountain Ginny had ever seen. Her parents, Molly and Arthur, had worked tirelessly for weeks to make sure every last detail was perfect just as it had been for Bill and Fleur's wedding nearly seven years earlier. It was perfect.
But as beautiful as everything else was, Ginny could not tear her eyes away from the altar. In less than 2 hours, she wouldstand before theit and pledge her eternal love to her fiancé, Daniel.
Ginny could hardly believe her wedding day had come so fast and now that it was here she didn't know if she could actually go through with it. She wasn't sure if she could marry Daniel knowing that her heart would always belong to someone else. Deep down Ginny had always known that her love for Daniel wasn't as great as her love for Harry. But Danielwas a good friend and he had helped her a lot after Harry died. But Daniel was alive. Hecould love and protect her. He could hold her when she cried.Daniel was there for Ginny atworst time in her lifeand she would always be grateful that he was there for her when she needed him--but is being grateful a good enough reason to marry someone?
"Ginny?" Hermione called from the door. Ginny turned toward her and Hermione immediately began searchingGinny's face for an answer to some profoundquestion. Ginnybecame uncomfortable under Hermione's intensescrutiny and looked quickly away.
"I know this is hard, Ginny, but —"
Ginny began to cry. "It shouldn't be this way."
"Oh, Ginny!" Hermione cried desperately tryingto find the wordsto comfort her friend. "Harry would want you to be happy."
"That's the problem, Hermione. I just don't think I can be happy without him."
Hermione just studied her friend's sad face. And after a while Ginny spoke again, "I wish he was still here."
"Me, too, Ginny." Hermione said as they both began to cry again, "Me, too."
