Only Steps Away
Only one step away
Close enough to reach out and stroke his cheek with her hand
Only two steps away
Close enough to trace his lips with her own
Only three steps away
Close enough to drop all the books – and the façade between them – and just reach out to him
Only four steps away
Close enough to turn round, go back, and address the tension between them
Only five steps away
Close enough to lean her lips to his ear and tell him that she knew
Only six steps away
Close enough to tell him that she heard his whispers
Only seven steps away
Close enough stop denying her own feelings
Only eight steps away
Close enough to actually start a conversation
Only nine steps away
Close enough to get over the heart flutters and stomach butterflies that plagued her when he was near
Only ten steps away
And she was gone. But as always, she waited just round the corner to hear his words. "Goodbye, and good luck"
A/N I wasn't even going to write a second chapter, but greenandsilver, being my only reviewer, hopefully not for long, gets special rights. This is for you
