A p o c a l y p s e
prologue
That girl was crazy.
She just sipped her tea quietly, not making eye contact with him. He was sure the look he wore was of pure confusion. "What did you just say?"
Her light blonde hair fell into her face. She glanced up slowly and put her cup down. "It ends tonight." She said, looking at a place above his shoulder.
Another look. "Okay, I'm not in the mood for games. I can't remember anything, I'm here in a white room—and are you sure we're not in a mental hospital?" he hissed the last part, glaring at her. She nodded slowly. "Don't. Mess. With. Me." Patience was not his strong point. Or maybe that was just the auto response of waking up to find yourself in the loony bin.
She looked over at the wall to her right, the one with a frame around white nothingness. Perhaps there was a window there before. "This world. It's ending."
He took a deep breath and counted to ten. Then, "The world's exploding?" He tried hard to keep the sarcasm from his voice, he really did. But he couldn't help it.
The blonde girl set her tea down and lowered her eyes. For a second he thought she was showing him some respect, but he followed her gaze to a small sketch book laying in front of her. She pushed it to him. On the page it was open to was a drawing of a boy, about his age. "He's the one who will save us. Protect him, or we will all die."
He ran a hand through his own dark, spiky blonde hair and let out another breath. "Protect him with what?"
She stood up suddenly. "You'll find out when the need arises." The girl then left the room through a door he didn't notice before. It disappeared behind her.
He snorted. "Need for what?"
He didn't notice the little black shadow crawling up behind him.
