I awoke the next morning to my dreadful alarm. I pounded my fist on the alarm clock. Thank goodness it was Friday. They always went fast, because we only had school half a day. Fridays were my favorite day. They marked the half day of school, the start of the weekend, but most important, we had school dances on the third Friday of every month. And the best part was, you could take anybody from anywhere to them. I usually met my friends there, none of us with a guy, and we would party, and then all 3 of us would come back to my place. I wasn't quite sure if I should go, and take InuYasha with me, stay home from the dance, or just go by myself. Man, my whole life had been flipped inside out and upside down. I'd think about the dance later, because if I didn't concentrate on getting ready, I was going to miss the bus and be late for school.
It took me about 15 minutes to get dressed and do my hair, so I actually had enough time for a quick bite of breakfast. I grabbed the box of cereal and opened it. Jade was eating eggs again, and InuYasha was still on the couch, sleeping.
"Yo Teal, what are ya doing up sp early on this pimping Friday, yo?"
"C'mon Jade, spare me the freak-talk. It's Friday, which means that I have to go to school, unlike some people," I said, glaring at Jade. He was supposed to go to college today, but he probably wouldn't. Then, a yellow bus was outside. I threw down the box of cereal and ran outside.
"Bye Jade, bye Mom, bye Benji," I yelled as I ran out the door. "Bye InuYasha," I whispered quietly.
On the bus, I sat with my friend, Katy.
"Hey Teal. So you are still alive," Katy said, sarcastic. "You weren't on at all last night, and you didn't answer you phone," said Katy.
"Yeah, I was busy," I said, as I tried to keep from laughing.
"Busy with what?"
"Busy with... uh, I was busy with umm." Katy gave me a glaring look. "I was busy with family things, and I didn't feel all that good." The bus was now starting to pull away from the house. It was only a short ride to school, so we'd be there in a few.
As soon as we got to school, I and Katy headed for the cafeteria, which we did every day. We met Brittany there, and then all 3 of us went to our lockers.
"So, Teal, where were you yesterday? I tried calling, and you didn't answer," Brittany asked.
"I was sick, and some family things came up."
"Oh. Well, what did you have? I mean, like, what was wrong with you?"
"I had a stomach ace, and a migraine," I replied, lying. I hated to lie, but I didn't think I should tell my friends that I tried to sleep and I found a half-dog, half-demon under my bed. They would think that I was crazy. And Katy already says I'm obsessed with the anime, InuYasha, so if I told her that I found him under my bed, then she would think that I had gone insane. I was thinking that I should tell them, but then again, I was also thinking that I shouldn't. Man, life had so many choices, and they all had consequences. I let that thought go out of my head. What was I? A philosopher? No, I wasn't. I hated those sayings.
The bell rang, signaling to either clear the halls, or be late.
"Bye Brittany, see you 3rd period," I said, as I followed Katy into homeroom. We still had a couple of minutes before class started, so Katy and I talked some.
"What all did we have for homework yesterday, Katy?" I asked.
"Nothing really."
"Great, I miss a day of school, and it's one of the days when we do nothing. Only I could pull that one off."
Miss Hoki walked into the room. She was a young teacher with green eyes, and short black hair. She was me and Katy's homeroom teacher, and she also taught English and Writing. The first few classes seemed endless. I couldn't concentrate on them. Not when InuYasha was at home, with jade... Who knows what would happen.
How will the rest of the day go? What is happening at home?
