Author's Note: Sorry it took me so long! A combination of writer's block, the holidays, school, and my computer acting up is why. I'm trying to keep the chapters coming, so encourgement is welcome!

I rested my head against the wall, as I stared at InuYasha who was still digging.

"Aren't you tired?" I asked, weary for sleep.

He said nothing, but relaxed and sat down.

"What do you think?" He asked with a smirk.

"I think, yes you are tired. If you are, you should rest," I replied.

"Then if you say so, I will."

I felt a chill wind blow through. That was a first I had felt in the whole time I had been here. Maybe we were getting close to escaping. My heart lept at the thought. But for now, it'd be best to rest.

"Teal, did you hear that?" InuYasha asked after several minutes of silence.

"Hear what?" I muttered.

"That noise, like a owl or cricket or something."

"No, you're probably just imagining it. Go to sleep," I said as I laid down on my arms. I buried my face in them for warmth. The chill had gotten quite colder and more reaccurent.

I ignored it, and struggled for even the slightest bit of sleep. I heard InuYasha stirring, so he wasn't asleep. My guess was that he wanted to find out what was making that noise, but he didn't want to leave me alone.

I closed my eyes, and tried to imagine myself at home in my warm bed with Benji on the bottom so I could sleep easier. All that did was make tears come to my eyes on how much I missed them all. I wiped my face on my sleeve. It didn't do much other than make dirt stick to my cheeks where tears left their mark.

I must have been making noise, because InuYasha crept over and looked at me.

"What's wrong?" he asked.

I said nothing, and tried to imitate being asleep. It must have worked, as he left and went back over to where he was before.

I closed my eyes and fell asleep.

I awoke to a warm light shining on my back, and my foot felt like it was in something cold and wet. I opened my eyes and rolled over on my back. I looked at my foot. It was covered in snow! I gasped and looked up. There was sun in my eyes. We must have escaped! I stood up and looked around for InuYasha. He was nowhere in sight.

"Great. I knew I shouldn't have trusted Dog-man," I said aloud as I plopped myself down on the ground.

"Dog-man?" a voice said from behind me.

I turned around to find myself face to face with InuYasha.

I ran over and hugged him, something that I never did before.

"I thought you left me alone! It scared me!" I said, choking back tears.

"Woah, chill out, Teal. It's alright. You were sleeping, so I thought that I would see if there was a way to Jade's chamber."

I let go of InuYasha and breathed a sigh of relief. That was the first time I had ever been that scared.

"Did you find a way to Jade?" I asked after a minutes passed by.

"Sadly, I did not. The whole castle is blocked off. No way in, or out."

"But we got out. Couldn't we get back in?"

"When you know, tell me," InuYasha said as he stood up.

"I'll tell ya something!" a voice rang out from a shadow in the distance.

My heart immediately jumped to my throat from fear. I hid behind InuYasha and gripped his sleeve.

"And just what will you be telling us?" InuYasha snapped.

"What's with the attitude?"

"What attitude? I don't have an attitude! Get lost, or give us your name, and get outta those shadows!"

"Fine, no need to be like that!" the shadow said and stepped closer.

I gasped and let go of InuYasha's sleeve. It was Xavier! I didn't remember him coming, but InuYasha said so.

"Xavier! What are you doing here?" I asked.

"You ditched me, if you remember."

I looked down. "I don't."

"What do you mean, you don't? You know perfectly well what happened! You left me back there alone!"

I sat in silence.

"Xavier, she really doesn't remember. She didn't remember me, or where she was. She has amnesia." InuYasha told.

"Pffth, like that's true. Anybody can fake it. I can fake it for pete's sake!"

"I'm not faking it!" I yelled, once again choking back tears.

"Alright, sheesh. No need to be so touchy!"

I wiped my face with my dirty sleeve, in an effort to keep my face from getting chapped from the cold. Snow was everywhere, and a shrill wind was starting to blow and whistle through the trees, giving me an eerie feeling. The only thing that happened when I wiped my face was that I smeared dirt all over it.

InuYasha bent down and wiped my cheek with his sleeve, which was amazingly clean, despite all the digging.

"Thanks," I said as I looked up at him.

He winked at me in reply.

"So, anyhow, where have you been, InuYasha?" Xavier asked.

"In prison with Teal."

"Then how are you out here?"

"I dug a tunnel through the wall. Anyhow, come on. It's getting colder. We should find a place to stay.

"But isn't it morning?" I asked as I stood up.

"No, it's actually pretty late. You slept awhile." InuYasha replied.

"Oh," I said and started following InuYasha. Xavier followed me.

The snow felt cold against my feet. My shoes were no longer recogniziable as shoes. They were more like shreds of cloth. The soles of them were torn, and snow pressed up from the cracks in it.

The snow made crunching noises as we walked on it, each following the other's footsteps.

After awhile, my feet became numb, and I kept falling. Snow was stuck in my dirty hair. It was hard to know what all was stuck in there. The moon shone rather brightly over head, illuminating the falling snow. My ears were pointed again, which crept me out at first, but InuYasha explained. He wasn't quite sure why that happened, but he did the best he could to tell me.

"I'm tired, can't we stop somewhere?" Xavier asked for the tenth time in half an hour.

"How many times do I have to tell you? No, we can't." InuYasha said again.

"The weather just keeps getting worse! There's no hope for us! We're lost, cold, and are helpless!" Xavier said, negativily.

"Stop being so negative! We're fine!"

I said nothing everytime they quarreled. I had to concentrate all I had on walking. My legs were starting to go numb, but I said nothing. I didn't want them to think I was pathetic.

"Is Teal alright? She hasn't said anything in awhile," Xavier said suddenly. He must have noticed my sluggish movements.

"InuYasha, look at her!"

InuYasha turned around, and looked me in the eyes. He walked over.

"You alright?" he asked.

I said nothing, but looked him right in the eyes. My legs kept feeling number and number, and I had to try everything I had to keep my teeth from chattering. They felt so cold that they could've broke if they clicked each other.

I opened my mouth to say something, but nothing came out. My mouth wouldn't even open. I collasped and laid on the snow. I started crying, but no sound came from my mouth. Who was I kidding? I can't do this, I thought to myself. And now, I'm probably going to freeze to death out here.

I felt my body get picked up, and I opened my eyes as far as I could. InuYasha had picked me up, and was carrying me.

"Is she alright?" I heard Xavier call.

"Yeah, she'll be fine after awhile," InuYasha replied.

I closed my eyes. I felt so cold and tired.

"Teal, don't go to sleep!" I heard somebody call. I wasn't sure if it was Xavier or InuYasha.

"Talk to me, Teal. Tell me anything."

"I miss benji and my mom," I whispered, which was the best I could do.

"What's your favorite food?"

"Tacos."

I tried everything I had to keep my eyes open, even if it was just a little bit.

"How are you feeling?"

"Really cold and tired."

"It's alright, just keep talking. You'll be fine."

"Look! I see a building!" Xavier screached.

"InuYasha?" I asked.

"Yes?"

"I love you," I whispered, and my eyes snapped shut.
