A/N: I rented Play With Fire... Muahahaha... What if Sara had shown up at Grissom's townhouse after he'd turned her down? My take on the episode. By the way… I used to be a Snickers shipper. However… I was corrupted. Sorry.
Read My Lips
"You know..." Grissom started as Sara came around the corner suddenly.
"Yes?" He was glad that his hearing was good enough to have heard her beforehe'd crashed into her.
"I changed my mind. I'm not going to let you just get away with saying you don't know what to do. See, that's the easy way out." She leaned against the wall, and he was reminded of how she'd leaned against his door earlier.
"What do you want from me, Sara?"
She laughed. "What do I want? That's a good one." She managed to get her amusement under control. "You know what I was doing when the lab exploded? I was walking away from your office. My food was sitting on the break room table. I'd followed you down the hallway, while you talked to Greg and some other people and then that new lab tech followed you into your office. I must have looked like a stalker. I was going to ask if you wanted to get dinner with me." She shrugged. "That's all I want."
He frowned. "Sara... that's not all it would be. You know that. However it turns out, it'd be more than dinner. And, in all likelihood… you'd end up hating me when it was all over." The admission pained him.
"Hate you?" She smiled. "Grissom, don't you think if I could hate you I would already? I've tried so hard over the years… and it never worked. Not once."
"You…" He couldn't explain why that hurt him. "You tried to hate me?"
Giving up her last little shred of dignity, she sighed. "Anything but love you, Grissom. You don't let me in. Ever. You seem to have this mistaken thought that if you let me go and I came back, then we were meant to be."
"What's wrong with that?"
Good, he was being defensive, she was getting somewhere. "Actually, a lot. But the main thing is, it's like you kicked me out and then locked the door behind me. I COULDN'T come back, no matter how much I wanted to."
"But…"
"Grissom. You have yet to provide me with a reason that you won't go to dinner with me. And, unless the next words that come out of your mouth are "I don't find you at all attractive", you're not going to find one good enough to suit me. Well?"
He glanced around frantically, trying to see a way out. "Umm.."
"That's my answer, I guess." She grinned, grabbing his arm. "Come on, I'll even buy dinner."
He grumbled, but she noticed he didn't dig his feet in. Time later to find out why he'd spent the last two minutes reading her lips.
