I wasn't satisfied with the 30 second papering-over resolution of the Ponds' divorce situation at the start of S7, so I played a little with how they may have come to that point and why it might have been so quick to resolve. Started when the episode aired, but only completed now.

He was sure he would die falling into that portal with Rassilon, but he instead falls through time and into a parallel universe. The drums are gone and he's effectively stuck there not knowing what to do with his newfound sanity. Conquering the universe doesn't have any appeal without his rival, but maybe exploring it with a duplicate will...a pretty duplicate. Fem!Doctor/Master

Rose gets severely sick and not knowing what to do, the Doctor and Jack go to Jackie. Once there, secrets are revealed. Life altering secrets. Doesn't follow the show's story line, so no Doomsday! Jack is with them; also they have met Martha and Donna and they will be around. Gallifrey still exists and the Doctor is not the last of his kind.

The Doctor almost lost Clara and he's scared. Fear makes him open up and he talks to Clara about how important she is to him. 12/Clara friendship and/or romantic, depends on how you see it.

Basically, I rewrote parts of the episode known as "The Almost People" to fit my own selfish desires...

Nyla is a genius. She was accepted into Cornell for engineering physics at only 16 years old... but was kicked out at 19. After a challenging past, she decides to move to small town Leadworth, where she meets the Doctor and travels the universe. She learns how to let go of the past and live for the future, just as she teaches the Doctor to do the same. Possible Doctor/OC in future.

In the distant future, the Doctor finds himself investigating a mysterious plague.

Rose's thoughts after Doomday. Fairly raw (though polished around the edges) emotionally.

They all knew each other. Rose, Chris, Jack, David, Martha, Mickey, Amy, River, Matt, Rory and all their parents. They DID live on the same street after all. But what started as an ordinary friendship, all the different age groups, grew into something amazing! And nobody knew... Except their parents of course. They'd been planning weddings since the kids had met!

Two years and six months was quite enough time away as far as Ms. Wright and Mr. Chesterton were concerned. They had run the gauntlet both at home (and as far from it as can be imagined), all either of them wanted was to get back to work and the day to day of life on Earth.

The Doctor has a very complex and loving relationship with all of his companions. Most of them confuse his feelings for love and lust while the Doctor really has a more paternal aim in mind.
