Every smart enough person in Sunnydale knew that wandering the streets of the town after the sunset could be dangerous to one's health, especially if that "one" was alone and near one of the 12 cemeteries of the Sunnydale. Although, it was commonly know (for the most part of the population) that all the cemeteries after dark are usually full of the evil creatures, there was one place that could not be entered or rather stepped on to by the previously mentioned evil creatures.
That particular place was rather small, but a couple of people could fit in to wait for the danger to pass them by. The problem was that not many people were aware of this kind of sanctuary, but most of the evil population of the town did. And this population was not happy, no-no. The phrase "stupid Slayer" could enlighten some and confuse the others. But the fact was that the slayer's grave was the safest place in the cemetery the evil could not enter. And soon the grave of the former slayer that once has guarded the Hellmouth became mostly ignored by the creatures of the dark. They even became rarely seen in that particular area of the cemetery where was the grave of Buffy Anne Summers.
Even after her death, the Slayer still guarded Sunnydale, even if it was just the small part of the town.
