Okay, well here it is this is going to be my disclaimer for the entire story so listen up, I guess it would be read up, anyway. This is not mine, anything that you recognize belongs to the author Tamora Pierce. OK, wasn't that wonderful, somethings you might want to know before reading this. Alanna left her family at the age of 6 when she tried to convince her father to let her enter shang or knight training. Of course he wouldn't so she left, and made her new home in Corus. Now, 3 yrs. Later she is queen of the rogue, with only Solom knowing her past. George does come in here later, but that's because he is a Commoner, pretending to be a Noble, to become a knight, so that he can prove Commoners are just as good as Nobles. A bit ironic isn't it? Any way, read and review.

Chapter 1: Memories Message

"I won't stand for it, if you won't listen to me than don't be part of my family. I don't care what you choose, but what ever you decide, know this, no daughter of mine will be a knight, Shang, or anything but a lady."

There was so much Alanna had felt like saying to the man before her that day 3 years ago. For that was all he had become, a man. Those words had erased him from memory as a father, not that he had ever been much of one, but he had been there to fill in the word. Now he existed as only a childhood memory of a man who had hung around their home.

Alan was on his way to become a knight in a year if he couldn't convince the man otherwise, while Alanna sat on this makeshift throne in the center of Corus. Perhaps when he came she would stop by and see him. Of course she wouldn't let him know what she was doing here, that would bring him to close for comfort, but she would see him. Alanna looked around the room, and caught Solom's attention with a flick of the wrist. He was at her side in seconds.

"yer majesty, what can I get ye?"

"Ye know the answer to that, get me slickfoot while your at it though, I'll be needin' a quick word with him."

"Aye, your majesty," Solom trotted off up the stairs, coming down shortly after and fetching a drink for Alanna. Seconds after her drink appeared, so did the man she was waiting for. An unkempt man, with messy blonde hair, lanky legs, and a willing smile always poking out of the corner of his mouth.

"What sort of business do you want me to be doing t'day? The usual?"

"No, I'm not looking for any business around here, I've taken an interest with a young noble up north in the fief called Trebond, he's said to be coming up to Corus within the year. Anytime within the month really, so that he can get used to palace life before he starts trainin' with the pages. I want you to go and check up on the lad' and see if he's still heading up here. No talking to him mind. But keep your ears open until you hear the yay or nay, then I want you to take this," she reached down to her boot, causing Slickfoot to tense slightly, but only brought up an envelope with the name THOM scribbled across the front. "and leave it on his pillow, before he goes to bed. Get out of there before he sees you, and come report to me about it. Go on, get going, you've got a ways to go." She waved a hand in the direction of the door before it seemed like her attention turned to something else. The young man glanced at her quickly before deciding that he better get out of there quickly, before he ended up with a dagger heading for his behind.
