I can feel it…the hate streaming from that girl. How can she hate me so? I saved her life, and dozens of her villagers! Belzac thought to himself, standing up as the morning sun hit the trees, signaling to him that it was time to move on. "Company, we have work elsewhere. We need to move – now!" He called, and his men rousted themselves from bed.

"Wha the hell?" Kanzas came out of the tent Belzac had set up for him, and looked at the dawn with anger. "I hate bein' woken up this soon!" He shouted, throwing the flap back to hide the insides of the tent.

"Well, Kanzas, as I am the leader, you move when I say, or you don't move at all. Got it." Belzac said, making the question a statement.

Kanzas laughed from within his tent, and called out, "You're lucky I am lazy right now, or your insides would be adorning my tent." And came out, holding his water skin. "But because I agreed to aid Diaz, I'll follow your commands." He said, amused, and began packing himself up.

Well, an unwilling follower is still a follower.Belzac thought to himself grimly, and walked down to the town, which was just below the rise.

"We are moving out now. Staying in one place for too long is a beacon in the sky for Winglies looking for an excuse to kill humans!" He bellowed, as the remaining citizens came running from their huts, as if the Winglies were attacking again.

Last of them all to surface was Shirley. She had the look of someone who had slept on the cold and wet grass, her face red from it, her hair disheveled.

"Can I help you?" Belzac asked, as she walked past him without saying a word. He blanched at the horrendously cold shoulder.

I am nothing in her eyes…wait! Why do I even care what the damn woman thinks! I saved her life, and she repays me with cold looks and ignoring me. Well, I can do the same. Belzac thought, walking a little taller back to the tents, getting prepared to set his own up.

Once everything was taken down and packed away, he called a meeting amongst his men. "Lord Diaz has a need for me in the remote forest of Genzai. A runner came during the night, and left me with a message, that two of his General's are leaving the Mountain of Mortal Dragon, hopefully with Dragoon spirits. He didn't detail what they were, but he said they could quite possibly tip the scale in our favor. Which is why I called this meeting. The message stated only 4 people were to accompany, including myself, and Kanzas." He eyed Kanzas levelly, and continued. "That means I need two more people to join my party, and the rest of you will head for the capital." Belzac finished, and looked at his men. None of them wanted to volunteer, he could see it in his eyes. No man alive would wish to be within 100 miles of the Crystal Palace, where Winglies were born, and the strongest allowed existence.

"Fine, if you big, strong, brave men can't go, I will." Shirley called out, a defiant glare on her face.

"This'll be interestin'!" Kanzas yelped, slapping his knee and laughing.

"Anyone else? If not, I am not required to take four, but that's the maximum." There was a pause, and his men shifted uncomfortably. "Okay, the rest of you head to the Capital. Your leader will be Rondam. Follow him as you'd follow me. Dismissed!" His men began lining up, Rondam stepping to the forefront, to lead Belzac's men.

"Shirley, Kanzas, please follow me." He asked, once they'd departed, and not even their silhouettes could be seen.

The two followed him, as he began trekking in the opposite direction as his men. "You know, Shirley, since you obviously detest me, you could've just left with the rest of your village." Belzac remarked.

"I want to meet this Diaz. I've heard of the human resistance, but word of that doesn't siphon down here too much."

Belzac shrugged, noticing she didn't have the hint of distaste in her voice when she said this. It was almost refreshing to hear her…she was quite pretty. The thought flashed in his mind, and he banished it immediately.

"Well, I don't know why I had to come, that's for sure." Kanzas said, glaring at Belzac.

"My sentiment exactly." He responded, not giving him the benefit. Kanzas shook his head dangerously, and continued following. After all, Diaz did personally ask for his assistance in the war. And hell, it meant he could decorate his trophy collection with more corpses – hopefully Wingly ones.
