Searching for God

As I was growing up

I asked myself

Where are you God

Where are you?

When wars were fought,

And weapons bought,

Where were you God

Where were you?

When the earth did shake,

And hearts did break,

Where were you God

Where were you?

When knives were thrust,

And buildings turned to dust,

Where were you God

Where were you?

When lives were lost,

And it wasn't worth the cost,

Where were you God

Where were you?

When the innocent cried,

And children died,

Where were you God

Where were you?

And then I looked,

At the world around,

And suddenly I understood,

I found you God,

I found you.

And if you look,

At the wonder that is our world,

You too will see,

That it couldn't just be chance.

Someone created it,

And that someone was God

And now I know,

That when I'm down and alone,

God will be there,

Through the good and the bad,

He is always there

And for that I want to say I'm grateful,

Because without you God,

I admit I'd be lost,

So I thank you God,

I thank you.
