It was the Valentines dance at Casper High, and this year the dance was a masquerade. So she decided she could come, no one would know she was there, so she could relax as her reputation was protected. She went out towards the dance floor, her black skirt rustling as she moved. Some boy that had seen her from the sidelines came up beside her. "May I have this dance?" He asked, his voice very familiar to her, as he raised his hand. She took it and nodded as a slow song came on, he led her to the dance floor and wrapped his arm around her waist as she put her other hand on his shoulder.
As they danced to the song she just kept staring at the teenagers blue eyes which seemed so familiar. 'Wait a second..' Her amethyst eyes glanced at the boys black hair then back down to his blue eyes. "Danny?" She whispered. The boy blinked. "How did you... is that you Sam?" She smiled as they kept dancing to the slow music. " Yeah, it's me." His face broke out into a half smirk. "I thought you weren't going to come." She shrugged as they changed pace as the song ended and a waltz came on. "I wasn't going to but then my parents were going to make me go to one of their social Valentines dance. This was the lesser of two evils." His smirk became a smile. "I'm glad you came. Now I don't have to watch Tucker make a fool of himself." She nodded and laughed. She had already picked out which one was Tucker by the way he was trying to get every girl in the gymnasium to dance with him.
They grew into a comfortable silence after that. They danced to three more songs, all which were slow till Danny spoke up. "I'm kind of thirsty, want to go get some punch?" She nodded as they walked over the table and grabbed two cups then headed outside, as it was getting too crowded to just stand around in there. They walked out to the outside lunch area, which had been made into a mini garden area for the dance. They found a bench and sat down, sipping at the punch and once again fell silent.
Sam was looking up at the moon and stars when Danny spoke "Um Sam, there's something I have to tell you." She looked over at him and saw that he was all flustered. "What is it?" She asked calmly, even though in her heart excitement was building. "Sam, I, ah... I really like you, you see. More than a friend should. And I really hope this won't affect our friend..." H stopped talking when Sam removed his mask. He looked up from his hands and saw that she had removed her mask as well. "I really like you too Danny..."

Tucker walked through the garden, bummed that he didn't find anyone to dance with, but it was soon forgotten as he saw his two friends kissing on one of the benches. "About time those two got together!"
