Proverbs

By: InuyashaFan

Disclaimer: Obviously I don't own the characters of Inuyasha. If I did, then I wouldn't be writing fanfiction… I'd be writing novels…Yes… let that sink into your brain a little. In short, this is a fanfiction, meaning a 'fan' wrote it. So, let's see… I guess that means, DON'T SUE ME! (lol)

A/N: This is a one-shot that I wrote for my Creative Writing class. Today, actually. I liked it, so I thought that it would be fun to post it and see what you guys think of it. In short, Read and Review! -

"Regret is an appalling waste of energy; you can't build on it; it's only good for wallowing in." She said an old proverb to him. It was true… he was full regret…and he wasn't building on anything. He had stayed in one place – in a depression that never seemed to end. "Inuyasha… it's not your fault… You didn't kill me… it was Naraku… You had nothing to do with it…"

"Yes I did…"

"No you didn't… the only thing that is your fault is that I'm still here…Let my soul be at rest…and then, you too will be at peace…"

"Kikyo… I never thought of it that way… But you died twice because of my actions…" She put a finger to his lips.

"No…not because of you… it was simply my time… and you know my rest should never have been disturbed by the witch…Now, wake up and forget about me…I never existed in your life. Love your sweet little Kagome, and I will be at rest…Wake up…Wake up…"

"Kikyo…!"

"Wake up, Inuyasha!" Kagome was panicking. She had found him on the floor, passed out, in a cold sweat. She tried to shake him awake, but it was to no avail.

Kikyo shook him. "Will you wake up…? I'm leaving Inuyasha… Please, don't follow me…" She went towards a bright light that suddenly appeared.

"Kikyo!" He followed her, but as he took a step Kagome appeared in front of him, blocking his path. She wrapped her arms around him.

"Please don't leave me, Inuyasha…I can't lose you…" She sobbed against his chest.

"What?" Puzzled, he looked down at her. Suddenly he was back in Kaede's hut. He was on his back, with Kagome draped over him, crying.

"Please wake up Inuyasha… I can't lose you…" Inuyasha felt a jab of pain. He was hurting Kagome…

"Kagome…?" He said tentatively. She quickly looked up, her tears stopping as relief flooded through her. "I'm sorry I had you worried…" He sat up and Kagome flung her arms around his neck.

"Oh, Inuyasha… I'm so glad you're all right…"

"Yeah… I'm fine, Kag." They smile at each other. "Kagome… I love you so much…"

"I love you too, Inuyasha…"

They kissed.

From up above, in her final place of peace, Kikyo watched over Kagome and Inuyasha. "It's true…Regret is a waste of energy, as well as time. You can't live off of regret. But once you learn to forget that regret… you can make a living, and in some cases…" She looked down at the couple. "Find true happiness and love in their purest forms…"

END

A/N: Wow… that is the nicest way I have ever portrayed Kikyo… I am very surprised at the outcome. But I like it, and I hope you do too. Please Review!
