Beyond The Tears

Ewan Remington. Formly known as Father Remington from the Order of Magdalene. Yet, as he had told Sister Claire, he was no longer a Minister. The same held true six months later when they finally found Rosette and Chrono, together in peace. It had pained him to see their motionless bodies, but even more pain came from facing the truth. For them at least, there would be life after death.

Even now, he still felt the weight of their deaths on his shoulders. The burden of loss is never an easy thing to carry. With Azmaria becoming a Sister as well, he would have even more to worry about. Despite his severed ties with the Order of Magdalene, he was still close to all those that he had worked with for such a long time: Sister Kate, Clarie, Anna, Mary, The Elder...and even Azmaria. All of them were close friends, almost family to him.

As he stood in front of Rosette's grave, he was reminded of all that he had lost and gained in such a short amount of time. His eyes gazed at the fresh flowers placed upon the cold stone and he knew that Azmaria had been there earlier. Maybe one day, when things got better...he would bring Joshua here and tell him everything. Until that time, the Apostle of Hope would remain in the dark about his sister and Chrono.

There were so many things he wanted to say. He wanted to apologize for letting them down...for letting Rosette down. So many times he'd been here, tracing the name on the stone with numb fingers and an even number heart. Now, as he stood in the same place, the tears refused to come and his heart was aware of every emotion.

After months of silence every time he arrived here, he finally spoke.

"...Joshua is finally making progress towards his dream. He's writing a book now...a book about you and Chrono...and him. Your adventures together before everything came crashing down in a moment..."

In that instant, while talking to Rosette...Ewan Remington was set free of the tears. And his atonement began...

Author: My first ever Chrono fic! I just finished watching the whole series. (The end comes out of nowhere I tell you) It's a heartbreaking series, but that's how all the short ones end. Anyways, please review and tell me how it was!
