Marie Perrault: An Angel of Understanding
I saw that face
In the mirror of her room
That revealed to me the truth
Behind her hatred and cruelty
When the image broke away,
My mother stood there in silence
As blood ran down my arms.
Then you ran into the room to give orders
"Fetch the bandages! Fetch the peroxide!"
You said with such determination
When that woman returned
You picked the shards of glass
From my pale, death-like fingers
But then you left
Me in the care of that witch
Who will never love me
Dear Marie Perrault,
You will always be
My Angel of Understanding
