"Kirstie."
"Yes, mom?"
"You are suppose to ask before you bring strangers home."
"Sorry. They just came to CJ today. They are just visiting. Can they stay?" Kirstie begged.
"Ask your dad."
Kirstie walked off to her parents' bedroom. "We could be doing this for hours." She mumbled to Remus.
"What? Walking?"
"No. Going back and forth between my parents. They like to do that. "Go ask your mom." Then when I ask her, "Go ask your dad." It gets annoying." Remus followed Kirstie into the room. Sirius, James, and Peter had stayed to talk to Kirstie's mom. The conversation went something like this:
"So. . ." Peter had said breaking the silence.
"So. . . Do you have any food?" Sirius had had lunch almost four hours ago and was hungry.
"Yes. Come on." Debbie (Kirstie's mom) led them into an Italian style kitchen and waved her hand toward the pantry. This wasn't a wise move.
"Go ask your mom."
"What did I tell you! It always goes back and forth about 4 times before I get mad and yell at them to just answer me."
"PADFOOT!" Sirius's was the first bum Remus saw sticking out of the pantry doors. "The the hell are you doing!" Sirius's bum had turned inward to the pantry and his head had emerged inbetween James's and Peter's bums.
"I'm eating." He said simply before turning around again.
"Mom. . . Cant they stay?"
"I said go ask your dad."
"I did but --"
"Go ask him." Kirstie stomped off to the bedroom again and stomped back harder in two minutes.
"He said ask you."
"Go ask your dad."
"But. . ."
"Go." She stormed off again to return 1 minute later still storming.
"He said ask you." She said between clenched teeth.
"And I said it's up to him."
"THAT'S IT! ONE OF YOU JUST TELL ME!"
"Yes." Her mom said easily.
"Kirstie. Keep it down. I'm on the phone."
Kirstie grabbed James's collar and dragged him up the stairs knowing the other three would follow. She dropped him in a room filled with tiger/zebra/lepard/plain brown print everywhere. The pillows, blankets (which there were a lot of both), sheets, curtains, chairs, picture frames, wall paint, and even a few stuffed animals were this color. There were also a ton of stuffed animals (mainly dogs) in other colors. The one that drew Sirius's attention was the big black lab with abnormally large feet that sat on the loft bed. Remus was drawn to the large shelf of books in the corner. James was staring out the window at the pool in the backyard. Peter was just amazed at how many things Kirstie had on her bulletin board and backboard of a little cove under her matress; Pictures, cut-outs, neat looking giftcards, necklaces, a calander, birthday cards, temporary tatooes still in the plastic covering, magnets, stickers, id tags, canadian pennies, the new nickel design, charms, buisness cards, pokemon and yugioh cards she thought looked cute, bird and dog shaped erasers, a hand shaped flashlight, plaster wolf foot prints, pins, weird news articles, a Carl Junction dog tag, a fuzzy plastic monkey, and two Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire tickets.
Kirstie didn't have any homework but she was about two chapter away from finishing her book; "So Long and Thanks For All The Fish." She sat down and started to read.
"Whatcha doin'?" Sirius asked.
"Trying to finish my book. Bug off."
"Can we read too?" Remus asked.
"Sure. Grab a book from the shelf." She looked up long enought to suggest a few. "Try Trickster's Choice or Skywater or Gregor the Overlander or Woodsong or Wolf Brother or Dr. Franklin's Island." She pulled these books out and let the boys read the backs to see if they would be interesting. Sirius read Trickster's Choice, Remus had grabbed The Hound of the Baskervilles off the shelf, and James read Dr. Franklin's Island.
"Do you have any princess books?" Peter asked shyly.
"WHAT!"
"Princess books. Do you have them?"
"Sure. Here." She handed him Princess Nevermore and turned back to her book. She burst out laughing every once in awhile. It would take about five minutes to let the text soak in and start again where upon she would break into fits of laughter five minute later. After half an hour of this, she had finished and was getting sitting up to find Sirius asleep and James putting Kirstie's shaving cream on his hand. Remus was behind his book laughing and Peter was still trying to read his princess book. She had to laugh. This woke Sirius up and he rubbed his hands on his face. He felt something creamy and ran to the bathroom.
"PRONGS!" James had messed up Sirius's hair. Sirius stormed out of the bathroom and tackled his best mate. they fought on the floor and all Kirstie did was move her lamp. She thought it best if they just fought it out. She knew their personalities and therefore knew they would not be friends if they couldn't punch eachother once in awhile. The fight lasted almost ten minutes before the two sat up laughing at one anothers sissy punches. They clapped eachother on the back and asked for a snack.
"How about we go and see what Brad is up too. . ." Kirstie suggested with an evil smirk on her face.
