They stood by the well, one of Kagome's hands securing her yellow bag on her shoulder, the other hanging limply by herside. She looked at the ground brokenly. He stared at her in silent anger and disbelief.
"This is the way it has to be…" she whispered, her knuckles whitening as she gripped the bag-strap harder. "I – I want it to be like this…"
It was an obvious lie to Sesshoumaru, but she seemed like she wanted to believe it. He grasped her chin with his clawed fingers and made her look him in the eyes.
"No," he said shortly. And then he kissed her so fiercely she almost fell into the well anyway.
