I'm so sorry for those who had been reading this, I haven't updated in what has it been now? Five years? I had insane writers block and I was recently re-reading it and I relized something; I hated it. So I've completly rewritten this story and I am now going in somewhat of a different direction than before. So I hope you like this new version, the next chapter should be up in a little while (no where near as long as last time), and everything will be longer this time around.

Prologue

Koga would have never thought that it could have ended this way, or that he would have ever wanted it this way. His mate lay sleeping; beautiful in the fur pelts their pack had given him, his silver hair fanned out over the straw bedding. One arm was folded under his head as a pillow and the other hand lay protectively on the back of the young human boy who slept soundly beside him, untroubled by the wolves surrounding them.

Koga had originally baulked at the insistence that the human child stay with them; he already had a family, a sister who Koga knew would skin him alive and use his fur as a coat if anything were to happen on his watch.

However he had soon come to realize that his den had been missing something. He loved the smell of his pack and being around its remaining members was enough to alleviate some of the grief of losing so many members of his family. Recognising the scent of his mate had done the best healing, knowing that the beautiful young man in the marketplace was to be his chosen and not the weak miko woman had calmed him considerably. But even then hid den had smelled... empty. It was when his mate brought the young boy that Koga found out what was missing; a human. Ever since Kagome had lived with them briefly two years ago he had gotten used to having humans in and around his den.

The pack had accepted him immediately into their family. Since he had taken a male mate Koga could not have pups of his own and his love's young charge would naturally become Koga's heir and would be trained as such.

The wolf prince took a deep breath of the warm moist den air. He smelled his mate, his pup, his pack, the fresh straw of his bedding, that night's lamb roast, the forest and stream outside, and the pack healer's collection of medicinal herbs. It was home, family. Safety.

He emitted a soft, high whine of satisfaction that was too high for human ears to pick up; but jolted his too guards awake. Koga watched as his mate's silver ears flicked and unfolded to take in the sound. One sleepy gold eye opened to glare at the wolf.

"Koga, love, come to bed. You need sleep as much as the rest of us."

Yes, this was home.
