RESCUER, FARTHER, MASTER

Poverty. That's what this place is. Destruction, desperation. Death. Starvation is everywhere. I can see the children, just laying there. Motionless. But one, just one stood out. A small boy of around four years old. For some reason he grabbed me, he caught my heart. I just stopped and stared. His breathing soft and light. He was alone, all alone. From what I could see he had no family, no one, nothing, except for the tarnished, ragged clothes he lies in.

I knelt down beside him and reached out to touch his arm. He shivers as a gust of wind passes over. I can't help it, I know I should not, but I do it anyway. I take my cloak and put it over him. He shivered underneath it and, for the first time since I found him he stirred. He looked up at me and as I had expected, recoiled instantly. I put up my hands to show him I meant no harm. He looked at me with those blue sparkling eyes; a few strands of his vibrant ginger hair fell over his face. Slowly, very slowly he sat up, pulling my cloak close to him.

"It's okay little one. I'm not going to heart you."

The way he looked at me with his sparkling blue eyes. So innocent and …….trusting.

"Asonchi kaka koon?" (Who are you?)

"Key noho moca koon." (I want to help you)

I don't know how I knew his language but it just came naturally. I had never been able to speak it. It is an ancient language, thought not to be used anymore. This race of whom spoke it were meat to be extinct and yet here he was. An actual child speaking in that magical tong.

Ever so slowly he edged towards me. I could see he was weak from his constant trembling.

"Kaka kon molie noo aket eya kostea koon?" (Are you going to take me with you?)

"Oyla, oyla rey ka" I said (Yes, yes I am)

He tried to stand but was so weak that I picked him up and carried him to my ship which would take us away from this poverty stricken place. From hell.

As I sat there his head resting in my lap I knew that this was the start of a long and strong bond.

He stirred and looked up at me.

"Zola kena norivo lam?" I asked. (what is your name?)

"Obi-Wan Kenobi" he said.

"Elle Obi-Wan, yam lam kena Qui-Gon Jin" (Well Obi-Wan, my name is Qui-Gon Jin)

"Rey ovhe koon alfete." (I love you farther)

"Rey ovhe oc yam zolan" I said stroking his head as he fell asleep. (I love you two my son)
