Prologue

Fear, Pain, Darkness…Everything…Gone. The sun bore down through the trees as Raz Lyre looked up at the large oaks, as consciousness slowly returned to him. In a daze he stood, shuddering with the pain that cut through his legs. He fell to his knees when he could no longer bear himself. Reaching his hand to his face he felt the sharp features of his structure. His ears were shaped to a point. Elf. The word jumped into his mind. Raz gazed outward for any sign of life to reveal itself. It did.

Fur coated this creature as is descended towards him. Wolf, danger. More words. The creature raised its head and released a howl. Five wolves appeared behind it. They launched themselves towards him, bearing their deadly teeth. Raz was dragged down as the creatures tore at him. He raised his arms defensively to his face attempting to protect his eyes and throat. His arms were impaled between the ferocious fangs of the hunger crazed wolves.

The ground became wet with blood. The pain began to waver as his blood was scattered into the dust. Even as the pain from the wounds faded, fire flared within him causing him to scream in agony. Small sparks gathered at his fingertips, slowly twisting away in a trail of flames, engulfing the wolf and his brethren. The heat charred the bark of the trees, as the continuous burst grew hotter. Leaves caught in flames and trees began to smoke. The fire continued to consume the surrounding area, erupting into an inferno. Then as it had appeared, it had left in the same manner.

Raz had laid there, his breathing hoarse. His eyes grew dim and glazed over as he stared at nothing. A blankness had caught him. Darkness had claimed him.
