Reflection
Was that his blood pooling on the ground? With that buzzing going on in his head, Kakashi wasn't very sure. He did not feel any pain. Then again, his body was probably numb with the cold. He was almost certain that the white, floating particles were snowflakes. But why was it snowing in Konoha? It never snowed before in Konoha.
Wherever he was, he did not want to die here. Vaguely, he remembered something about an unfinished mission. He decided he didn't care. He just wanted to stay alive. There are still so many things that he had yet to accomplish. He tried moving, but he could not feel his body. Maybe something was wrong with his nervous system. Tsunade would probably whine about how much chakra she would have to spend to heal him.
ooooooooooooooooo
His sensei was holding up a hand to him. Come, let's go.
He stared at the intruding hand. He was dying and all his sensei could say was "Come, let's go"? Where was the "You're going to be alright, Kakashi" or "I'm not going to let you die"?
We have to go now! His sensei sounded urgent and worried and scared. Yondaime-sensei was never scared. Was this a henge that the enemy is using on him? He tried to activate his sharingan to see through this apparition but the eye burned and refused to work. He must have overused it.
Damn it! I didn't know you were that injured! Hands reached out and tried to grab at him. Kakashi tried to dodge, but did not quite succeed and found them already latched onto his arms. He tried struggling. That did not get him anywhere either because he slumped over in pain the next second.
What're you doing? We have to get out of here! His sensei pulled at him and dragged him onto his feet. Miraculously, he stood. His legs must be fine then. His sensei did not waste any time, pulling him along the way, rushing through the forest. His legs moved without his command. Must be his honed reflexes.
He decided that perhaps it was his sensei after all. Nobody but his sensei would bother to save him. Or hold his hands for that matter. They burst out of the forest, out of breath and his sensei scanned their surroundings carefully. Usually, his sensei would crouch on the ground, unmoving and listened for sounds other than the nature, not glancing back and forth like what he was doing now. That was what Obito did.
I think we've lost them. His sensei grinned at him. That wonderfully beautiful grin. He really missed it. His sensei looked at him weird when he mentioned it. He supposed he never told his sensei that before.
Oi! Don't fall asleep now! I've got to get you back to Tsunade! Something must be wrong with his sensei. Wasn't Tsunade still missing? Perhaps it was the stress. He had always complained about the mountain load of paperwork. He'd have that awful twinkle in his eyes, curve his lips upwards with the most fake, innocent smile and force Kakashi to do his paperwork in exchange of a new jutsu. Maybe this time, his sensei has finally snapped.
Damn it! Get the hell up! You can't die here! His sensei sounded so angry. Sensei had never sounded so angry with him before. He should really get up. He didn't want sensei to be mad at him. But he felt so tired…and he just couldn't move anymore. Was he lying down? Maybe his sensei could carry him. Sensei used to give him piggy back rides back when he was just a child.
What are you talking about? Oh fine! I'll carry you! Sensei's back felt warm. How nice. Would sensei still be mad if he fell asleep now? The darkness was already creeping in and he felt his mind shutting down.
ooooooooooooooooo
"Oi, you fine?" Naruto's worried face swam into view. His eyes, clouded with lack of sleep, did not look as blue as his sensei's.
"Aa." Kakashi looked out the open window to stare at the clouds in the sky. It was not his sensei after all…Too bad.
End.
